These sorts of things I'm good with, it's the guy that noses in in the typical loves or pfj that makes it a nearly impossible feat getting in next to him that I have an issue with. Also if you wake me up to move so you can get out of the spot that you chose to park in chances are you will end up with a broken face.

Here's another nose first, I've parked at this truck stop enough to know what drivers do. There's a scale behind, drivers often park next to the scale, there's just enough room to back in this spot when no one park's behind where I'm at.

When others do park behind this spot it turns into a tight blind side using the lane for the scale and travel thru the truck stop. The tanker in front was there before I got there, I'll assume I can pull forward when that truck leave's or back out. The tanker did leave before my 10 was up.. Parking is two spaces deep. Maybe you know the ts. Its common cents in Sheridan, WY.

Addition : some of the truck stops aren't worth the hassle unless its a must or park sometime after 6 am. They aren't so congested during the day.

I recently did a rant thread about another truck getting the drivers side fender and head light torn off. Drivers won't stop doing what they do. Accept and adjust

To the OP, I truly understand what you are up against as I really like sleeping with my windows open, (weather permitting), but it just doesn't happen often, best suggestion was already made, get yourself some GOOD ear plugs.

I did try earplugs sometime ago. But as I roll over in my sleep, they tend to fall out. I'm like you, I enjoy fresh air coming thru the windows in cool weather. Although, not usually at truck stops, because of the smell of urine.

Road base, dirt, gravel lots help with that smell. Serene parking may mean the loss of or limited amenities. Unless you carry it onboard.. Not all lots reek. Chart your own course and pit stops.

Stay away from the major TS, you would be surprised how many spaces are available at some of the mom/pop places.

I have been fortunate to be able to sleep in almost any conditions
steady rpms on a diesel is a lullaby to me changing conditions awake me
one night on the swordfish boat we had a 16 hour steam in to Newport Va to unload i took to the bunk leaving the crew at the helm . No wind calm seas just the wake off the bow slapping along
A couple hours later i heard the waves slap on the opposite side
of the hull I looked out of my room to see the crew with the wheel watch asleep and the boat off course
A very hard Gibbs head slap and he was sitting on the deck wondering what was going on............sigh

If ear plugs fall out when you roll over you don't have them in right. I use the soft foam ones and when properly "squished" (rolled) and put in your ear, they cannot fall out. I've been sleeping with them for years since the majority of the last decade and a half I've either worked nights or like now, slept in a moving truck.
