How is it a problem when he is running the speed limit? It is much safer to run the speed limit than to run 10 mph or more below it, holding up traffic. It's called common sense.

I just don't understand how going the speed limit is speeding. Countless posts refer to "speeding" trucks. There is no law against going the speed limit. But there is a law against two trucks running side by side for ten miles trying to pass everyone going ten miles below the speed limit.
I don't care how fast or slow someone's driving. My truck is not governed. But I cruise at around 67 but if I need to jump out and pass I can do whatever the speed limit is to not impede traffic and get around whoever I'm passing. Then simply resume my cruise.
But to call trucks that are able to do the speed limit "speeders" or to ridicule them, it's asinine. Just because you work for a company that neutered your truck doesn't mean those of us who own or drive trucks that still have a pair, are creating problems and breaking laws. Sounds like something ATA blabbers. -
What I don't understand is why some of y'all don't just slow down an let the truck that's going .5 mph faster than you pass. Then I can pass both of y'all an everybody's happy.
Cranky Yankee Thanks this. -
I just don't know why going 70 everywhere is even considered safe to you PROFESSIONAL drivers. A lot of y'all will swear up and down your good drivers and only a dumb ### can't drive a truck, but the reality is, at 70mph your gonna crash hard, and it's gonna be bad. U simply just can't maneuver a big truck and a full load at those speeds in an emergency like you could at 55-60mph. THATS COMMON SENSE. Then to make to make it worse, the same guys that usually go 70+ are the ones tailgating these poor old folks and other truck drivers, AT THOSE SPEEDS!! If you can go 70mph+ stay profitable, keep your truck out the shop from EXCESS wear and tear, AND be safe, like for for real safe, then it doesn't matter to me - go ahead. But for all you reckless drivers with the no body can tell me how to drive my truck mentality, your right, but you are a HICCUP away, everyday, from a situation that's going to be out of your hands because you decided to fly everywhere at 70+ and tail gate someone's grandmother... Good luck with that, just don't wreck and get the interstate #### down I got PLACES to go
JV_620, csw1818, dog-c and 1 other person Thank this. -
If the speed limit is 80 an I can run 80 safely then that's what I'm gonna do. In my opinion it's a lot safer than running 58 in west Texas.

AndrewH must be on serious drugs
Rick Brown, AndrewH and Arkansas Thank this. -
Even when I take a 65mph dispatch and I'm running close to 70mph all day I have all these cars and other trucks slow passing me now jumping right in front of my bumper with so little room for error now flying down the road at 68-70mph.
Kinda makes me sick to see so many so called "professional" drivers on here supporting and cheerleading such reckless actions.AndrewH Thanks this. -
doing 70 on 95 in VA or 70 on 80 in NV
are not exactly the same thing
i feel closer to death between the quarries and Gary IN where all the trucks seem to be drafting at 60 mph then anywhere else I driveRick Brown and 91B20H8 Thank this. -
Crankee Yankee u can say what u want but hey it's just common sense man. I'm in no rush and make great money. If you have to rush that much all the time then my opinion is, your in the wrong operation. I very rarely ever have to push 65mph. MAYBEE one load out of 25. If u have to find your thrill in life from pushing your 80k or more vechicle to the max up and down the public highways, not to mention, heavily populated in some areas, then there's a big chance your one of those drivers that gives truck driving the bad run you over image we tend to get. Which rubs off on d.o.t and etc and makes my business that much harder because they've already stereotyped as the other pushing 80k to the max, lane switching tail gating type driver lol.
No ones telling you how to drive your truck, cause no one will tell me how to drive mine.
Bottom line is, I stay out the shop, I save big on fuel, I'm rarely exhausted from driving, I always have a safe following distance, and I always have the cameras rolling to prove it. I'm in the marathon I didn't start my trucking business to run it like a sprint and give it all to TA/Petro, lawyers, Lawsuits, and the other etc's like fatality wrecks.. Man U guys push it... A wise O/O who has his trucks and home/land paid for told me "it's not about who gets to the top of the hill first, it's about who gets to the top with the most money"
But um *cough* *cough* it must be the drugs. I'm pretty sure the FMCSA wouldn't have let me slide this far
It's just a different opinion and perspective man, that's it.icsheeple Thanks this.
