Its definitely a machine that requires a decent skill set to master. I can run one well enough to get the job done,.. but do not consider myself mastered on that machine. Just never had the time in the seat needed. Dozers, loaders and excavators are more my thing. Not much I cant do on them.

I've seen guys come out and try out on them and tear chunks of the tread off or gouge new curbs so bad the whole piece had to be torn out and replaced. Even watched pros rip off manhole lids etc. LOL

I know how you feel. I drank 4 bottles of Smart water when I was unchaining and rechaining the 345 to get it scaled right. Felt like I was going to fall out before I ever got it right. And this coming from a guy who worked construction in Fla for 12 years. You would think I would be acclimated to the heat by now.

3 years living in Texas, I've always kept myself hydrated but I've learnt when I'm on the edge. It's weird, when your dehydrated, too much water is a bad thing.

Luckily, every time, I moved the truck, I grabbed a drink,we were in a tight spot, so I had to keep moving the truck.

Otherwise, when your so focussed on fighting to load a machine that doesn't want to cooperate with what its not suppose to do, you can get distracted from keeping hydrated and just want to get the job done.

  5. Don't forget drinking just water doesn't rehydrate you. Get power-aide gator-aide something with electrolites in them.

Just helped a hand at a construction site, water poisoning. At hospital he had 6 bags of saline.

    Be careful in the heat.

Did what work? Getting it scaled right or getting enough fluids?

In either case yes. State police escort.. you bet I got it right. I got an inspection before we traveled.

I like gatoraid.. but my wife buys mostly smart water. It has the electrolytes like gatoraide has.

    Been there before as well.

Last summer tarping and strapping an onion load. You would think its really easy,.. so many flies,.. I just wanted to knock it out. I pushed myself until I had it all done.

I drank so much water,.. I projectile vomited all the water I drank. Then felt like I was going to fall out afterward.

I guess I wasnt too smart,. pushed myself to the edge of heat stroke and then drank too much water too quickly.

I felt drunk after drinking so much water. Then felt like the flu coming on. I was miserable.

When I was in construction in Fla, the company I worked for had us watch videos on how to recognize and treat heat stroke. Sadly,.. I failed to recognize my own symptoms,.. it wasnt until I stopped sweating and the unquenchable thirst hit me that I remembered the videos.
