How would you permit a run from detroit area to baltimore area 12 wide……
Would i have to run US highways through OH and PA??? I don't think Id be allowed on PA or OH turnpike being that wide……...

YOU don't permit anything. You apply to the states on your route, telling them your entry/exit points, and they route you the way they feel the need. Most likely you'll have at least one run you some way that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.....o_O

No you can absolutely permit the routes you want to go if you have your own accounts. I order my permits daily in pa,wv,md and ohio

    Detroit....

Haven't been in the area for a few years, so I don't know about any construction. I was thinking that they'd probably route you down 75, to us 23 to Columbus, hit 70,79,68. 12 wide is right at the edge. You might want to double check the regs to be clear when you need a pilot car and the metro curfew areas. And be absolutely sure to get a copy of the Ohio and PA provision sheets...especially next week.

Do not go to truck stops in oh or pa unless they are on your permit.
You have to request ts when you order.

Pa won't bother you too much. You can't go through Washington on 70 so you'll need to pick a detour route. You can go through town to rt 40 back over to 79

Just found out its actually over near brighton,Mi so I would run US23 down to columbus and then over. Yeah i have a copy of provisions from PA and no only to stop at trkstops that I ask for on permit. I guess I should've been a little more clear on the question. I didn't know what routes to ask for …..I thought I couldn't be any wider than 10 on either turnpike, I don't run that area much but, i thought i remember seeing signs saying as such. I believe I'm good as far as no escorts needed…..

No escorts needed in pa,oh or md. You can run the pa turnpike but you must request a seperate permit which will be very costly

I try to stay out of Michigan, but I did pull a load out of there earlier this year. It was slightly to the west of Detroit. They routed me 94,23 (missed 75 altogether, because of the road construction in Morris). For some reason, I can't remember where I was going, but I went west. Had dual pilot cars...

Anyway, I used to run to Baltimore a lot, and once, because of road construction in Cumberland, I was routed across 70 to us30 (to avoid the toll road) back to 70. 70 is the best road through, the easiest, and freakin expensive for that little part that runs with 76. The next is 68. 68 sux, especially if you're heavy, but every other road I've ever been on in the area is steep, twisted and torturous. It's the main reason I try to avoid going to Baltimore unless the load has stupid money or is coming from South Texas, then it's up 85 and 95.

Yes, the mountains are not as tall as the Rockies, but they still make for a difficult day in driving.
