Locked out (international prostar daycab)

My truck locked itself after freightliner had halfway put my door back together.a driver came over with a pair of vise grips and turned the little black circle that turned the vent window lock.reached in and opened my door

 

bigger and FLATTER too....

If its big and curved, with crazy shape its bad bad also....

 

X tow guy here....yup, that one opens superfast, make one 90 degreee angle bend in welding rod, apx 2 inches from end. slide in weatherstrip, super easy/non violent on unit...yank back your way to depress lock, then twist, the pull back pressure will be enough for handle to twist, usually//

As heavy tow guy, never had a lockout i couldnt handle...Never with slim jim...long story

 

Happened to me in my 2006 Silverado, was about 10 degrees outiside and I wasnt dressed for it, sucked.

Mechanic showed me this once, it does actually work and is quite simple

Ok, facing the lock, theres a ring circlip that you can dig out with a pocket knife all easy and damage free. normally.

The whole lock cylnder will come out into your hand like a untapered turd, or 'lincoln log' if your east coast...

I helped a lady Arnold driver who had locked herself out at a Home Depot D/C. My key unlocked her door like it was made for it. She had said the same thing about Naviatars only having a few different keys. Kinda scary to sleep in a Prostar...guess it doesn't matter if I don't lock my door anymore.

 

I'm not familiar with the prostar, what do the door handles (inside) look like? Is there a relatively easy way to run a motorcycle strap from one to the other? If there is then you could just do that before you go to sleep.

 

More like 50, Volvo's have 8 and all the new ones in the last 2 years are the same key in our fleet and the Fliners im not to sure about.

There is a trick to get into the prostar's but sense this was made back on friday I wont post that in the open. =)

 

If the Prostar has a wing on the door that opens, breaking into it is pretty easy with a long screwdriver, or I've even done it with a stiff twig broken off from a nearby tree. Just jam it into the crack between the wing glass and the rubber molding, and press the unlock button on the front part of the armrest. Unless the truck has a dead battery or you have the battery cut off switch off, it will pop open the locks. I've done it several times.
