    My reference to "legality" was aimed specifically at a post pretaining to logbooks..however point well taken.I suppose the OP could have NOT moved his trk and trl after observing he was NOT in compliance with his inspection stickers(after doing his thorough VPTI) we are all required to have.If a hard copy was "enough" to be in compliance,why are "stickers" required? You need both,same with IFTA,registration,DOT
    #s,MC #s..Got to get with the program and stop whinning about things we"think" are petty but are not,as this OP can atest too..

    This is part 396.17(c)

    (c) A motor carrier must not use a commercial motor vehicle, and an intermodal equipment provider must not tender equipment to a motor carrier for interchange, unless each component identified in appendix G of this subchapter has passed an inspection in accordance with the terms of this section at least once during the preceding 12 months and documentation of such inspection is on the vehicle. The documentation may be:

    (1) The inspection report prepared in accordance with § 396.21(a), or

    (2) Other forms of documentation, based on the inspection report (e.g., sticker or decal), which contains the following information:

    (i) The date of inspection;

    (ii) Name and address of the motor carrier, intermodal equipment provider, or other entity where the inspection report is maintained;

    (iii) Information uniquely identifying the vehicle inspected if not clearly marked on the motor vehicle; and

    (iv) A certification that the vehicle has passed an inspection in accordance with § 396.17.

    Take notice between 396.17(c)(1) and 396.17(c)(2) the word OR means either one will work therefore the sticker is not required if you have the hard copy.
    Sorry that you feel we are petty to be in compliance according to the regs but those that enforce them don't know them and we get punished for their failure.

    I feel your pain bro,l had a DOT give me a ticket for not having my low air pressure warning light working properly,when the regs say either a light or buzzard,will suffice,so l would say make sure you have both..10/4
