    lol yep.

Bout 2 months solo. Very heavy high value run coming out of Winchester that was the 'route suggestion' I was given.

It was a valuable learning experience if nothing else but 45k up and down and round and round on that goat path was no fun.

I did try to get off and turn around and ended up in way worse shape than I was to start with but managed to find my way back to 50. That's all I'll say about that to avoid incriminating myself even though it was over 4 yeas ago and a different company lol

Never again. I'll go as far out of route as I have to to avoid it.

I was a greenhorn too with Stevens when I did it. Had offloaded in Cumberland, MD but had some pallets I needed to offload. They sent me down to Keyser, WV to drop off the pallets and then I had to cross over to Paden City, WV to load up pool chemicals bound for Denver.

Well I offloaded the pallets and decided that US50 didn't look "bad on the map". This was before GPS systems and unless we were total #### ups and our out of route miles were high , we pretty much had Carte Blanche on routing.

Since I had proven myself to be pretty competent on routing, I wasn't given routing. So I plotted a course down US220, west on US50 to Clarksburg, north on US19 to WV20 west to WV2 then south to Paden City.

I pretty much figured out right away that I had ####ed myself. I was empty and I was crawling on those roads. WV20 wasn't much better. I don't think there's a straight road in that state.

Got to the shipper late. The boss was still there but told me everyone had gone home. He was pretty cool about it, told me I could park there and they'd load me first thing in the morning. I called night dispatch. They were pretty useless but I did need to let someone know. Got the standard "Ok, keep us updated." I could have told them I had been kidnapped by the Venitian Amazon Sex Goddesses to be their love slave and would have gotten the same answer.

The guy who loaded my trailer the next day said it best "Ain't no truckin' 'cross West Virginia!".

I kive in the area. another viable option, take US 522N out of winchester toward berkeley springs, then about 12mi from winchester, take a left on Rt 127. follow ot all the way to the end, it will put you back on 50W just outside of Augusta, WV, past all the nastiness on 50. then take 220 south off of 50 into moorefield.

77 to 81 to exit 257. Take rt 259 to Baker Wv and get on Corridor H going West to Morfield. Good running.

From what I can see on the map, this doesn't look too bad. 259 at least runs parallel to the mountains, rather than across.

Take I-81 to Mauzy/ Broadway exit (257). Follow Rt.259 Thru Broadway, watch for left turn at 2nd light. Rt 259 runs into Corridor H, into Moorefield. Good road all the way, albeit 40-50 miles of good two lane.

Well at least I know for next time……I never called the guy back on the load and Im glad I didn't.
I got a lot better run going to Cincinnati……..

Ps- your day gets even "better" if you're dispatched to a Food Lion. 4-7 hour long waits to be unloaded.
