[h=1]Overloaded truck with over 117 tons! Actros 4048 trailer was carrying construction materials in Kenya[/h]
Mercedes-Benz probably should pay some Kenyan transport company a good sum of money for advertising. For behold, in Africa stopped the truck, which was loaded with over 117 tons! This was just the vehicle Mercedes Actros model specifically in the African 4048 configuration, of course, 6 × 4 drive, V8 engine and a solid, a four-trailer. Whole, with unloading building materials containers weighed 171 tons, while the maximum permissible laden weight of this kit should not exceed 54 tons. This in turn means that one set of weighed as much as more than three legally loaded the truck, and also compared in terms of weight many a "gabarytowi" with oversize load. Orange truck was stopped on the outskirts of Nairobi, capital of Kenya. Weighed it on a stationary checkpoint, it turned out that the vehicle is not overloaded and thus dissolved it further. Aroused police suspicion, however, that after the closing of the weight of the machine is not headed straight to the point, and returned at partial load, as someone they quickly informed. Officers therefore decided to find a car and turn it back on weight. And that's where the weighing device indicated shocking result exactly 171 tonnes and 300 pounds! The penalty for this offense was counted in the hundreds of thousands of Kenyan shillings .... The owner of the truck now pay a total of 400 thousand. as per buck is 16 thousand. respectively.
The legal maximum pavement damage factor for the truck with seven axles is 11 against the above trucks resultant of 1366. This means it is singly equivalent to 124 compliant trucks stacked on top of each other and moving together on seven axles, Mr Ngatia said.
Why do so many Americans hate European trucks?

its the CEOs of American truck builders came together and gave the government money and asked them to create a 25% import tax on trucks and epa and dot standards. and all American builders desided to build crap and not let any imports in and compete. Just like in soviet union they were making same Lada for 30years and not let imports in.
mhyn Thanks this. -

117 ton's = 234,000lbs
117 tonnes = 257,938lbs
I'm not normally picky about the usually small differences between metric but in this case it adds up. -
i always have problem with that, between tons and tonnes

Do you watch the Paris - Dakar race in the US? Just ugly Euro trucks I'm afraid .

AModelCat Thanks this.

I've never been around any Euro trucks but I've worked on enough French forklifts and I know those were horribly designed, cheap pieces of junk. I'm not really a fan of single drive axle cabovers, just look really front/top heavy and goofy. I'd take an old K100 any day over a Euro cabover.
