Hello I was wondering what are some good schools in the Dallas area? I was thinking about joining Stevens transport because I heard they have a good training program but I heard others saying they weren't able to get a job after training. I don't want that to happen to me so I was wondering what other good schools are around the dfw area besides community colleges/private party because I can not afford it.
Schools in the dallas area?

Stevens isn't the worst nor the best. Nice trucks with APU's.

Raider Express in Ft. Worth
Millis Transfer in Burleson.

There's another option also; CTL Transportation will pay for C-1 Truck Driver School in Dallas, if you want hazmat/tankers.
Hazmat/tankers is a good career and you will need hazmat/tanker endorsements plus TWIC ID Card.
Do tankers right out of school and you'll always make good money in trucking. Some drivers make over $100K and you can too when you gain a couple yrs. experience.
Contact C-1 school and maybe they can get you started with CTL.Last edited: Sep 26, 2015

That sounds good I'll look into it. I just sent my information to c1 and asked about CTL for tuition reimbursement.

Good; hope they approve you for CTL. Gain some experience then move on to a company like Groendyke Transport or Trimac Transportation.

ya'll forgot one school. cr england has one in the Dallas area as well. i was looking to stay local and went over and interviewed for a job as an instructor. yes i've read all the stories but also went to see what it would be like. first off they only require 6 mos otr to be an instructor there. let that sink in for a minute... the second thing that should make some of you shake your heads is the pay. job was 5 days a week 0800-1600. i'd get new students on Monday and have to have them ready to pass the road part of their cdl on Thursday. Pay for this gig was $600 a week. no that's NOT after taxes. $600 a week. so like my dad always said, you get what you pay for, those are the kind of instructors they are getting.

I know a guy that went to CR England in Cedar Hill, TX and he didn't last 24 hours. I warned him, but he wouldn't listen.
His wife said when he returned home to NYC he looked like he just stuck his finger in a 440 volt socket. He was a changed man never to return to his former self.Last edited: Sep 27, 2015
