Things are kinda slow here in west Texas but I am still able to work 60hrs/week so I am thankful for that.
However no one is allowed to work extra anymore as well. -
Got 8 loads hauled both today and yesterday . All short hauls from wells close to disposal sites.
Things are very unpredictable here in Canada with our federal election coming up next month. Could be some scary things happening apparently depending on who wins and had the power . -
How many hours does that take to turn eight loads a day? How many km one way per load? Do you haul by the barrel or some other unit of measure? What's the winter weather like driving on lease roads up there, like how do you avoid getting stuck? What's the average pay like?
Just curious I know it's a lot of questions. I can answer any you may have as well.seabring Thanks this. -
14 hour day , about an average 30 km round trip per load, we haul by the cubic meter, winter weather sucks , get stuck a lot , tractors and dozers pull us through in winter and spring.
These days the Average pay for me as a driver on a percentage of truck revenue is approx $8500 per month gross.
2015 has really dropped off pay wise.
In 2014 I made $118,000 for the year. -
That's pretty good money, even in CAD. I'm not sure what your cost of living is there but here it is pretty high. If I work just a 12 hour day here I'll have average $490.00CAD. It's interesting to me how in a entirely different country the same old crap is having to be done in the same way.
I grossed 139kCAD in 2014 but that was working 6-1 and never seeing my friends or family. I've chosen too and along with the down turn I think I can live on 121kCAD and just work a regular schedule granted I'll earn 60hrs a week.
The money out here is nice and I am so thankful, don't get me wrong but maybe it's getting older that has me thinking it's better to have the time than the extra money.
Thanks for sharing. Be good.seabring Thanks this. -
The cost of living is higher here on average but not so much that it's eating up all my income just to pay the bills.
This is a good job I have here, there are jobs around here that pay better but for me at this job It's all day shift, no nights, Set schedule 7-3 , 7/4 and One weekend off per month .
Good pay , easy hours, set schedule and one weekend off per month is about as good as I'll ever find here in my area.Last edited: Oct 7, 2015
