    Hey guys,

I'm currently a lease op at a mega, once I get my year's experience in, I'm going to be looking at buying a truck and coming to mercer, as I have heard many good things about them.

What I'm wondering is, if anyone can give me any info on how teams do at mercer? We average 5-6k miles a week and stay out 4-6 weeks now.

We're a young bf/gf team who run long haul and are currently on a load from L.A. to N.J.

What I want to know is, does Mercer van have team freight? Or is it super solo loads?

Do they have the freight to keep teams moving and profitable?

Does anyone know what the average van load hauls for over there?

Lastly, I come from an owner op family, I threw straps on a flatbed for my dad before I got my cdl... but does Mercer have long enough freight for flats to be viable for teams? Most team freight seems to be expedited, doubles, or reefer...

Any help and comments would be appreciated.

Holiday rush? Yeah, alot of our team freight Nov and Dec is ups, fedex express, amazon, etc.

I figure if I can stay profitable with mega carrier pay, I can sure do it somewhere like mercer where they pay you like you should be paid.

It's not for everyone, but my situation is nowhere near that bad. We get along well and work together. We heard alot of the same junk along these lines in cdl school and they were wrong too.

Really just looking for information, not commentary on my operation. Thanks

We don't have a lot of team freight. Unless you get clearance to do high value/top secret/explosives that kind of stuff that is team only. However I would pretty much bet my house that even running super solo you will net a LOT more money than what you are doing at that mega running 6k miles a week.

Just running solo I often bring in more to the truck in a week then I did running team at my Mega. I also have put a lot fewer miles on my truck. The true teams (not husband wife teams) that I talk to say they do get a bunch of true team loads with super solo loads to fill the gaps. They all seem happy.

Not sure I understand....you don't think couples are "true teams"? We run 5500 to 6k a week, is that not the definition of a true team?

Here at Mercer, we have a lot of husband wife teams with big bunks that use trucking as a paid retirement.

Yeah, I've seen that in your magazine at truck stops. I'm wondering if mercer has long enough flatbed freight to make teaming worthwhile, or at least big enough supersolo runs to get to 4500+ a week
