Walmart pays good. That's it. That's where it stops. I used to think they were the premier company to drive for, but the insane micromanagement and back stabbing, you can get that at any other mega carrier. If it were strictly about money, then yes, go to Walmart. If you're looking for quality of life as well, look elsewhere, because you're not getting it there.
People seem to think because they're the biggest and they have one of the better pay packages, you'll be treated as the professional that you are. This is not the case with Walmart Transportation, as many ex Walmart drivers will attest to. When it comes down to it, you're just like any other "associate" with Walmart stores. You're controlled, you live, breathe and sleep Walmart. No thanks.dog-c Thanks this. -

You'll note from my posts I've never said we're the best, or the most highly paid. You are right it's not for everyone. My boss might disagree about me being " assimilated". I push back harder on issues than most. But I go in with logic and reason, they listen, and sometimes I win, sometimes they do.

Some of you Internet experts make me laugh... I heard this, I heard that... I never shop there, blah, blah.... there is no more back stabbing amongst drivers than there is anywhere else. Some of you must have great jobs to woof the crap I have read in this thread. Then again, it is easy to be know-it-all when you are a screen name. Yep, believe everything you have heard.
WallyWife Thanks this. -
They ran radio ads in DFW area for about the past two years.
Ad said 96k per year and home four nights a week.
Must have 3 years drive exp, and spot free record to qualify.
Used to hear that ad at least 3 times a night on my commute home from work. It's what made me finally get in gear, and find a place to get trained and saddle up to get my time collecting.
That along with random signs all over town with ads for 60-80k home every day, with 2-3 years exp etc.
