I dont believe there's a shortage of drivers.. the shortage is about trucking or driver amenities. someone got that backwards

The shortage is BIG company's being able to get someone to drive that rig for about 40 cents per mile, while the company's make 3.00 per mile off the driver.

Stopped at the love's in Quartzsite, AZ a few weeks ago. I dreaded stopping there in the past, parking and lines were ridiculous. they've added parking and shop since I was there last. a little better but still packed

Go to the back of any carrier's maintenance shop and look at all the tires they go through in just a month's time. Look at the heap of tires that were curbed, and ran low by these "professional" drivers. One tire = $350+ Do the math.

A large trucking costs incur serious expenses to run the entire operation, pay all the ongoing hiring costs, property taxes, tolls, breakdown towing and repairs, employee vacation and benefits. Yes, I get it, those at the top are "over compensated" according to most here. But they are charging $3 mile to run those reefers and pay those drivers because that's about what it costs when you can only find sorry excuses for drivers to work for you and have to conduct business in today's bureaucracy. Trucking on a large scale is a very costly business, even under the best of circumstances. One instant can offset 6 months of profits.
