    Socks ! Yes, I've seen them to. Good for one use/mistake .... then like a 'real sock' you poke your toe through one end and your heal thru the other end ..... and chuck 'em out.

    Socks will work, and are DOT approved on most of the hills .... BUT .... they are fragile ! One bad spin and they're toast. You better know how to feather your drive train to use them.

    If you're already mired down, socks are no good that I've seen.

    Carry a bottle of clorox. Pour some on yer tires and it will make them grab the ice. I've found that siped tires work very well. You lose a little tire life but they are great on slick stuff

    a little clorox a little smoke .. the high school boys liked to play with it. the videos aren't to serious

    could be pretty cool in a big truck.
