instead of enticing new drivers with direct tv. how about a wage that would entice new hires and a better group of drivers.
tech10171968, HorseShoe and dca Thank this. -
Nothing wrong with a little free HBO
HorseShoe Thanks this. -
I know at least one mid sized carrier who will run your butt off, and they offer the satellite TV option to drivers. But the driver has to agree to a $200 charge for the installation and equipment but I think the basic monthly service is paid by the carrier as a "benefit" but don't quote me on that. And I believe the offering includes a flat-panel TV on a swivel as part of the installation.
Even drivers that have ample freight have to "sit" a day or so every week, and these types of carriers want you out 3-4 weeks at a time so it's not like you can "sit" at home so satellite TV would be handy especially with a professional installation and custom truck-durable equipment is worth something. OTA broadcasts are so hit and miss with trucks passing and interfering with signal it's too often too frustrating. DVD's are not a viable option long-term, and neither is Netflix given high and limited cellular data costsstevez57305 Thanks this. -
This will be the new HOME(but not home) DAILY gimmick soon

The difference is the western express driver trying to watch TV while driving

When I worked for western express the owners parked a yahtt at the Tennessee terminal with a banner saying "thank you drivers". I almost fell out of my seat when I saw it .
