The PNW, Northern Indiana and Michigan...especially in the UP. I hate Michigan, but it definitely is an education in trucking with the rig setups. Even the doorslammers are serious in the UP, with those 4-5 axle van trailers.

I tell you what, if you ever get the chance to roam all of North America, take it...it will open your eyes. In most of the 48, the most common thing you see is the 5 axle setup. The closer you get to Canada, the more 6 axle rigs you see (mostly on the 2 lane). You have the B trains in Indiana and Michigan, the triple pup rigs on the turnpike, the Rocky Mountain double (a full size trailer and a pup), the Canadian double (2 full size 53ft) on the TransCanadian Hwy, and the farther north you go, the bigger and stronger the rigs get.

Those outback hands drive some beefy rigs. Could you imagine a Beancounter from a US mega carrier trying to spec out a truck for an Aussie road train? They'd be out of business in less than a month.

How about speccing this ugly mofo. Tri-drive, hub reduction diffs, twin steer, Cummins QSK 19 liter, air start.

Tri drive and dual steer. Tractor alone probably weighs 44000 lbs or better.

    Ozdriver and tsavory Thank this.

Look at the A/C on the roof. I have horrible memories of hot days in an old Mack with a similar set up where the A/C dripped on me all day... or wait.. maybe it was the sweat off my brow?

Maybe if I was crossing the border near El Paso I could find a shipper for all that. Wonder what kind of rates they have south of the border?
