Ok well better then trading my cqr i bought the truck (NOT RUNNING) and four new batreries from guy extremely cheap. Costed me $150 to tow it back home.

My main mission will be to get this puppy yelling tomorrow hopefully the air pressurize/bleed procedure and four new batreries will get her to start.

This is my second pete but first 359. But its a 50/50 split on what people say bout them.

Truck has 38k i think rockwell with a 4.11 on big rubber ,i need to get under it to see what trans is on it and hope its an overdrive and not a direct. It is aluminum frame which is super mint on it.

Will be checking in on forum tomorrow hopefully with good news this way i can start the cosmetics on it

    Bean Jr. Thanks this.

Cool. Watch out for that aluminum frame. I had friends that had those, and they developed hair-line cracks under the 5th wheel and behind the sleeper. Let us know how it goes.

ok well a little disappointed..... got the batterys on the truck. and tried pressurizing the system on truck, well I tried getting to the feed line which went directly to the front middle top part of the motor I cant get to the fitting. so I then went to the secondary fuel filter. it has 1 line marked in going into it and 2 lines marked out coming out. I cracked all three lines one by one till I got fuel dripping out of them.
that's were I am lost if the secondary filter is on the ### end of the system that means theres fuel in the entire system if its coming out of that filter?
after getting fuel out of the secondary fuel base I closed up everything and tried pressurizing while cranking over motor and I got nothing...........what gives I know for sure that this engine isn't seeing fuel, can I just rig up a electric type holley blue fuel pump to this thing?lol

let me see if im understanding the way this thing works more or less on the Detroit v8's im guessing that the pump is the thing on the top middle part of engine, since weve already stated this engine wont prime pump fuel like a a ntc cummins by just simply turning engine over. there would need to be check valves in place to hold fuel in system when truck is not being used, then when you turn over engine fuel pump gear driven just continues to pump fuel to engine once running? can I not just augment a auxiliary electric fuel pump?

Sorry, fresh out of ideas. Don't be bummed. How's the rest of the truck? If the truck is sound, I wouldn't spend a nickel on the that boat anchor of a motor. Like I say, yank it out, find a BC Cummins in a yard somewhere, ( maybe even trade, might be the only decent V-8 block in existence:biggrin_2559: ) and do the swap. 359's are becoming incredibly rare, and to get one that cheap, is pretty amazing. Seriously, don't spend a lot of time on that motor.

    1. Is there even a tiny amount of smoke coming out the exhaust?
    2. 100% sure the emergency air shutoff is open.
    3. Will it run if you spray a SMALL steady stream of starting fluid in the intake? (bypassing the air cleaner).
Hope you get it goin. The first truck I bought was a 79, Pete made em good then...
