I bought a Freightliner Columbia with a bad Headgasket, Its an MBE4000 (I know its a terrible engine to many) and the Eaton Ultrashift 2 pedal. Anyway instead of reparing the heads I just changed the engine as I had a complete take out with 95k miles. I installed the new engine, started it up and went to place it in gear, it jumped into gear but then jumped out within a fraction of a second and threw a code ECU130 on the insturment panel display. I didnt remove the transmission durring the swap, I did put a new DM Centrifical Clutch in durring the swap so I didnt have to remove it twice. The problem is that it wont go into gear, It tries once after start up but after that it changes from N to F1 to F2 to R on the gear selector display in the dash like its lost its mind..

Did it shift before the engine swap? Did you replace the engine with the same brand and model?
Catliner Thanks this. -
The new engine ecm has to be programmed for an automatic transmission to work correctly.
-
Im using the old ECM on the new block. Transmission code is 27. Replaced the engine with an identical MBE4000. I dont have any idea if it worked when the old engine blew. The previous owner is unreachable

you'll need to call the dealer to find out for sure what the code is
but if I remember right ecm130 is the Message Identifier for the Transmission
the instrument cluster is not seeing the transmission control module
you may need to be towed to a dealer to have the dash, ecm, or trans reflashed -
Code 27 is clutch related. Maybe the clutch needs recalibration after I installed it with the engine.
flood Thanks this. -
Engine must be revved up over 1500 rpm to unlock new clutch. Code 27 means that the clutch is locked up so the trans input shaft is turning and it wont go in gear.
Catliner Thanks this. -
Are the u shaped hold down clips still in pressure plate , look in insp. plate under trans. and look when clutch is pushed to floor to see if pressure plate is moving all the way back out if not the clips that came on pressure plate can be pry out if they wont fly out with clutch press in at 1500rpm, also ck if main shaft is being stopped from turning by clutch brake?

Called eaton. The clutch is not unlocking. Gotta pull it out again
