I remember when I started at werner 10 years ago it was a flat 500 a week and we worked 14 hours a day. Unloaded 1 53ft trailer by hand stacked loose to the roof everyday..lol. wish I would have started with superior back then

  3. Can anyone share details on the non-cash side of things? Superior is very local to me (I'm about 20 minutes from Pedricktown and right down the street from their Crown Point Road office) and I'm looking at a career change into tank pulling. Curious about benefits, 401k, etc. Website does not do a good job of showing this kind of thing that I can find.

We have health and dental, I pay $35 a week (single no kids). Not sure on the co-pay as I have yet to use it.
401k matches up to $900 per year and whatever profit sharing earned gets put into the 401k. This year was a little over $800 profit sharing so that works out to about ~2.5% match.
8 Paid holidays at 8 hours per day (8x$16.16)
Two weeks paid vacation after 1 year of service paid 48 hours at $16.16/hr
2 sick days to start with and you accrue them as you go. I think I'm up to 4 after a year with the company. Also paid 8 hours at $16.16

Pedricktown isn't a bad terminal to run out of. Whenever I go there I get a nice run coming out. They have a lot of system freight originating in the Phily area and around the NJ ports and that goes all points, North, Southeast, Midwest and I've heard of some going all the way West. Not to sure about the dedicated runs but I do know they also run dry bulk.

  5. Thanks for this. Recruiting just called me back and the woman I talked to was less than pleasant. I got a better first impression from here than I did the company itself.

Two weeks of paid vacation is 48 hours? Total?

That's per week. If I were you i wouldn't mess with recruiting especially if you had a bad experience. Call the terminal manager at Pedricktown . He will end up being your boss anyway and will be the one making the hiring decision.

I don't think the people in recruiting are recruiters really. I think they have other jobs and "recruiter" was just thrown on with it.

Yes, like wsyrob said though, you're definitely better calling the terminal.

  8. This is definitely my next step. Need to see if my open unemployment claim is paying for CDL first. I asked if Pedricktown had openings for drivers out of school, told "I don't know."

I noticed. I considered apologizing for bothering her.
