The idiots with no mirrors and plastic where the side windows should make me nervous. Seems like a trend lately with these POS "beater cars" that drive like complete morons, cause an accident or nearly cause one and happily drive off. Usually it's some kid driving it. How those morons pass a yearly inspection is beyond me.

No safety inspections here for passenger cars or trucks under 10,000#. Good thing, too, because I've got one of those beater trucks that I don't care about. Bought it to leave parked at the company yard when I was a company driver so I wouldn't have to worry about my nicer vehicles. When I bought my truck, I put a draw bar on the bumper to drag it around behind me if I needed to drop the big truck off at the shop. As long as it fires up with the first turn of the key and gets me where I need to go, I'm not dumping any money into it. Would it pass a "safety inspection"? No. Can it be driven safely? Absolutely. I have been for over 9 years now with what most might deem a pretty serious flaw...but if you pay attention and know how it causes the truck to handle, it really isn't all that big of a deal. It is just a beater truck...not worth dumping a ton of money into, but too reliable to scrap.
