If it reboots every time you start the truck there's something wrong. According to my copy of the "green book" it only mentions you can't drive more than 8 hours without 1/2 hour break. Whoever told you that there is a reg stating the engine has to be shut off the last 5 minutes of it is full of caca.

I did the update a few days ago. I haven't had an issue with the 30 minute break. However, it has cut my pre-trip time down from 10+ minutes to just 4 minutes twice now.

Must take 30 minute break after being 'on-duty' for 8 hrs.

    Not quite right either.

May drive only if 8 hours or less have passed since end of driver’s last off-duty or sleeper berth period of at least 30 minutes.

Note it says "drive." There is no requirement to take a 30 minute break if a driver is not driving.

No, but you can't drive until you have taken a 30 min break either. After up to 8hrs on duty. Unless you're local, in which case, you can work up to 12 hrs.

No, the truck needs to return to the main terminal for repairs and reassignment. You will be reassigned a new truck in 10 hrs. Which, being a driver less truck, will also need to be returned for repairs.

It's been doing this to me too. I found if the truck is off when you put it OnDuty, it doesn't cut the time.

I tried the trick of putting it on duty after my 30 minute break without shutting the truck off and it worked.
