I stand corrected...I always just assumed it was the same 12V motor/pump.

Series parallel...I just replaced the one on my 78 A Model. Starts 24V, changes back to 12V after you release the ignition switch to charge normally.

I wonder why they just don't go with a simple pony motor on the trailers? Before I built my wetline on this current truck this past couple months as I was working/wrenching/working on it to get it ready for my RGN trailer...I looked into a pony motor setup. Would have been a LOT cheaper in the long run than my $7,000.00 wetline, but I designed mine to do multi-tasking like RGN, dump trailer and an LP gas pump in the event I switched to propane hauling in the winter months. Those stinking bigger hydraulic fittings and lines will start eating up the $$$ when you get to that point.

Maybe they just had too many bad days with wetlines and pony motors with multiple drivers....everything from forgetting to flip the PTO off, to running ponies out of gas out in east cupcake somewhere...never know. Sometimes you have to make things child-proof I guess.

Yes Keen Transport Company was acquired by Platinum Equity in 2012, which includes Keen Transport, Inc. and Cressler Trucking, Inc ( is a general commodity carrier that provides packaged goods transportation, primarily in the Northeast United States) Keen Transport Company - The company also provides value-added logistics, light assembly, painting, installation of aftermarket accessories, storage, and managed logistics services at 13 facilities near U.S. ports and co-located with customer production facilities. . Mr. Bill Keen remained on as the CEO of the company. Keen has been owned by the Keen family for 43 years.

As some have mentioned concerns about the economy. If anything the acquisition will only make Keen a much stronger company and because of Platinum's portfolio Keen is well insulated and actually has seen company growth by adding being the the hauling company for many of Platinum's other companies such as there crane rental business. They have not been experiencing the drop in freight and freight rates others have been. Which is largely attributed to this acquisition.

    About Platinum Equity
Founded in 1995 by Tom Gores, Platinum Equity (www.platinumequity.com) is a global investment firm with more than $6 billion of assets under management and a portfolio of approximately 30 operating companies that serve customers around the world. Hope this helps.

Yes, thank you, very informative. It's good to see the business side of things too, equally as important.

I loaded out of the Keen yard in Oxnard a couple of times about 3 years or so ago. They loaded, I just chained. Good, easy crew to get along with crew. Couple of company drivers parked in there each time waiting for their loads.

Anyone have an idea of current pay for drivers at Keen in 2016? All my research has been inconsistent at best and not very specific. Does anyone know how much money a driver there averages and what does it take to get it in terms of weeks on the road (have heard this varies up to 4 weeks for good money - whatever that means)?
