tucked deep inside the 1,603-page federal spending measure is a provision that effectively ends the federal government's prohibition on medical marijuana and signals a major shift in drug policy.

The bill's passage over the weekend marks the first time Congress has approved nationally significant legislation backed by legalization advocates. It brings almost to a close two decades of tension between the states and Washington over medical use of marijuana.

Under the provision, states where medical pot is legal would no longer need to worry about federal drug agents raiding retail operations. Agents would be prohibited from doing so.

There are 32 clinically tested and identified properties in marijuana that have proven to aid in the treatment of certain cancers.

The District of Columbia has fully legalized recreational and medical marijuana, but recreational commercial sale is currently blocked by Congress.

Marinol is a liquid form of Cannabis/Marijuana (THC) that is approved by the FDA. It is also a form of medical marijuana that if you are prescribed and are taking it is not a violation of the DOT drug screening if you have been prescribed this form of Medical Marijuana. It has similar effects as smoking marijuana and is used primarily to increase appetite.

Well, maybe because out of the 2 million miles I drove I was high for about half of them. Two million miles, zero accidents (not even scraped paint) and one ticket over 20 years. I used it to stay awake during all the night driving because it made me more focused and 95% of my driving was at night. I quit drinking in 1982 but in a couple of years of drunk driving I had 3 accidents and got numerous tickets including a DUI. In private vehicles, not commercial. My point is I have a lot of personal experience with both and alcohol is much worse IMO.

 

Never drove a cmv drunk or high, never will. When I was a teen, I drove a car drunk twice and drove a car high everyday. And driving high is much safer than driving drunk, not even comparable. Still probibly not the best idea though. I have also done a lot stupider things while drinking, and gotten in a lot more trouble drinking. I don't smoke anymore because I do not want legal problems.

When I started driving a truck I quit smoking because I knew I would be tested, but I still believe it should be legalized.
