We never even uncoupled a trailer at the truck driving school I went to. It was a small school with terrible training with an overflow of to many students with 3 teachers. Needless to say I was off to a bad start!!! Lol

That's because truck driving schools only need to teach students how to pass the test. And drop/hook isn't on the test.

Its in the pretrip section of the dmv handbook. Atleast in Cali it is. I remember it was a question on the test about it once

I carry kitty litter with a scoop for this purpose. Usually a few scoops under each drive tire does the trick. I do also carry a collapsible shovel that stows away for more challenging exits.

RIGHT ON............Had a 14 579 pete, went to a pre trip with truck running. Started my walk around and found my doors had locked. Extra key was inside truck. What a way to start the day.

Or hide a few keys on the truck. zip tied to a battery cable or airline or even the hide a key boxes tucked on the inside of the frame.

I agree.....hide it then you don't have to think about it until you do get locked out.

Or get a KW T680. You can't lock the door without a key from the outside. If you try prelocking the door on the inside and close it, it will unlock.
