Here's how it is exactly. Op better enjoy the 2900 mile checks. Once they get to know him. The miles will start falling. If he makes a mistake. He's back at the bottom for miles. If not forgotten. How long you work at national doesn't matter. All drivers get treated like they are new hires. So there is no seniority when it come to loads. It's more of a favorites list first. After one year. The miles get cut out. Just like the flipped a light switch. It doesn't matter about skills. They don't listen anyways. The only time miles improve. Is when I get a new fleet manager.
The "meat and potatoes" of National Carriers.

Your new! Give it time, you'll see! So I would save your money. And take care of everything in the first 12 months. After that! 1800 miles will become a big check to you. Left laying on the road for 24 hrs after every load will become normal.
hunted Thanks this. -
National has an absurdly high operational tempo. It won't be long before you're waking up at 1800 thinking its 0600 and experiencing a brief moment of panic.

Next year, everybody will have to be on elogs....everybody. And in a few more years, they'll kill the small outfits with the new emission standards. Then you'll look back on these days as "when times were good."Dharok, REO6205, Mike62 and 1 other person Thank this. -
When I ran for them 20+ years ago, The plants and motels in Liberal and Dodge looked like truck show. Mostly all big trucks, lots of chrome. Back then 3500 miles was a slow week, 4500 - 5000 was a good week
