Does anyone know of a company in Georgia that will give me a chance at driving an 18 wheeler? I am fresh out of school and only 18 and know that insurance plays a big factor in me getting a job, but any class A job will do just so I can get some experience. Thanks in advance.

Some household goods movers will hire 18 yr. old drivers as driver helpers and to run within the state. If you cross the state line the other driver must take over.

Also delivery services such as building supplies to construction sites. Go knock on doors anywhere you see a truck parked. Which town do you live in?

Hmmm..I see where this is going. Industry wants more young guys (more lower paid truckers) to fill up the industry with lower paid drivers to push out the more expensive drivers...hmm..

So, that means...that I, in a couple of years, won't be able to compete against newer younger, lesser paid drivers...hmm..well this career just went to the dump.

No wonder u can't get rich driving a truck. The industry won't let u.

Not really, low paid drivers have options; they can settle for low paying jobs or get the endorsements and take the higher paying jobs. Some of the older experienced drivers have found their comfort zone and aren't interested in change. The money is out there but it takes effort if one really wants it.

Get over your pity party, 18 year olds have always been able to drive intrastate. Nothing has changed there. Some 18 year olds have more maturity and common sense than 40 year old drivers do. Just because the kid is 18 does not make him unable to safely drive a truck.

I for one applaud the kid for having the gumption to get behind the wheel in the first place and the maturity to know that is what he wanted to do. I did not want to drive a truck when I was 18.

I'm 18 been driving since June driving inside nc Absolutely love what I am doing. Grew up in the business. You'll be surprised how many people give me crap over my age. But I've also met some amazing people that were supportive. There's companies out there that will hire you.

They're not really foreigners, they're Navy Seals working undercover. They'll admit it if you ask them, but only if you promise to keep it a secret.
