Has anyone ever out there heard of not being paid for deadheading, either to get next load or home?

Yep, own your own truck, set up your own loads, see how much deadhead you get paid. If you are company, depends on their policy. Not real common but some companies have a policy you have to travel x amount of miles before you get dh miles. Sometimes at a reduced rate too.

Well its not percentage and it's not my own truck (that would make sense).

If your paid by the mile, you should be getting paid for dead head miles also. That's pretty standard in the industry. I can't think of any companies that pay by mile, and don't pay D/H miles.
I'm an O/O, so when I take a load there is no compensation to go and get it. When I take a load I figure the D/H miles into the equation.Oldironfan Thanks this. -
It would seem standard to me that they pay deadhead as well, it seems the you wouldn't have insurance coverage if your not on the clock (so to speak)or getting paid.

Rural King used to, not sure if they still do, run their drivers that way. 40 CPM loaded and nothing empty. Also hired cheap foreign workers in the warehouse
