I would not have used this trailer for this load. I would have used a 2 axle trailer instead.. I want to see the tires go flat, and have it all fall apart as I am going down the road.

I would image an RGN is at least the best for this job. Rather have an over rated trailer than an under rated one.

I wonder how it was loaded. Maybe it was broken when it was loaded..

Seeing how I have never hauled a scraper before, just looking at it, I would have been on the horn with the trailer mfg asking questions before I took the load. As someone mentioned, Richie brothers has specs on some equipment which would have helped getting weights for the unit.
Another issue. What about realizing what kind of equipment you have and it's weak points. Just because the MFG says it can haul x amount of weight doesn't mean it can haul a little more. And seeing how the load was wide, it doesn't mean the load can be carried on the outer edges of the trailer..

Also, what about how the weight is distributed. Is the rear heavier than the front or vice versa??

A TS14 like that on a tri axle Talbert setting between the second and third axle i have almost 60,000 on the trailer. You would have to be careful on a spread if you could scale it at all.

 

Well just speaking about 3 axle step deck trailers, Doonan makes some pretty stout tri axle trailers. I think for the purposes of if a trailer could carry the load, I think a Doonan could.
Are we talking about getting the weight evenly distributed across the 3 axles might be the issue?
