I absolutley can't decide which company to work for. I always run into these drivers and they:biggrin_2551: both like their companies. Should I flip a coin?

I have no personal experience with either of them. However a guy I used to work with had worked for Heartland. He was not happy there and I think he had problems with getting his pay. Either they kept messing it up, or were late with it or something.

I really don't remember now, but I worked with him for over a year. He seemed to have his head on straight, was a good dependable worker, safety conscious and got on well with customers.

hello tucker, can't decide who to drive for, well if you are trying to decide then its probably known what each company has put on the offering table and i believe you should go with which ever one will most meet your overall needs. i can't speak on behalf of heartland as i have never driven for them, but i am currently with crete and i will tell you that as a driver on their national fleet i average between 2800-3000 miles per week. my pay is always in the bank with no problems and i get home when i request with very little difficulty. i've been with crete just over a year and make .42cpm
:biggrin_25520: i will say that overall i am satisfied with crete. if you are looking for a good company then i don't think you will be disapointed with crete if you choose to come aboard. goodluck and be safe.

    tucker Thanks this.

Yeah, you're all right Crete beats Heartland. Heartland might pay more per mile, but I won't get as many miles. Monday I'm going to call Abilene and see what they pay, I hear it ain't much, then call Lisa at Crete. I gotta go somewhere, I already gave my 2 week notice here (PAM). I'll miss driving a PAM truck because the beggars beat on our trucks all night and give us money. I gonna practice on a 10 speed first. I hate automatics, this one gets stuck in 2nd gear in traffic jams and one time it jumped to nuetral in the middle of an intersection in Atlanta with traffic all around me. It buckjumped? 2nd gear to the truckstop up the road and I had to shut it off for 20 minutes so the computer could reset. The driver that had it before me traded it for a new truck because he was tired of it breaking down. Our shop didn't even touch it, they just gave it to me. 2 years of no accidents and a great delivery record and they give me this pos.

Tucker..as a former PAM driver that has seen the light and now work for Crete...you will see how a real trucking company does it here. Couldnt believe how smart the dispatching is compared to the system PAM offered..Hope to see you in a Crete truck soon.

I've heard Crete drivers talking about preplanned loads, I'm so used to sitting for days between loads, like now!
Yeah, I can't wait to get there. I had to be a good boy and give a 2 week notice here. This looks like another 1800 mile week, which is high for me,lately.

I would say Crete, Hartland will shut you down for any little reason.. Lets say there is a serious thunderstorm around your area or a bad snow storm, its in your area but not where your at, it could be 50 miles away heading a different direction they don't car you get shut down and don't get paid for it... Now Crete somewhat still lets you make the decision if it is safe or not to drive (the way it should be in my opinion, if you didn't know then you shouldn't be driving a truck anyways..) Hartland has lower miles 2000-2300 but they pay more... at least they used to pay more..

I worked for Heartland for a short time. They sucked. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

Alway heard good things about Crete. I tossed a coin on Crete or Knight Transportation and went with Knight because of hometime.. Been with Knight since JAN 08 and they have got me home every weekend for a full 48 hrs. But Crete will run your socks off and they have some really good drivers. Also I was sold on the Volvo at Knight over the Freightshakers at Crete.
