Thanks Juan, that does help. That explains a lot. Pretty interesting way of getting paid but I am more than happy to get away from straight mileage pay. I'm also looking to work hard as sitting in a seat driving for almost 8 hours at a time is killing me. Just too much time sitting. The more I move during the day working the less time I have to spend in the gym.

I really appreciate this info. I'll keep things updated here. I submitted my application tonight with Bakers Express. I'm going to follow up with them tomorrow or the next day.

Hey just wondering if you had any information on groceryhaulers out of the bimbo breads Macungie PA I have a road test there tomorrow . I only applied 2 days ago and they called me up without even giving me any information about the job or position pretty much trying to push me to road test immediately.

Your probably talking about the Brenigsville plant. It's a brand new facility that opened up about 2 years ago. You'll be delivering Stroehman bread, entehmans, arnold, etc. It's gonna be the main facility in the NE, so their looking to hire a whole bunch of new drivers. No endorsements needed, just a class A. There's rumors going around that their gonna close the old Stroehman plant in Norristown and turn it into a hub.

Job is pretty easy, all drop and hook. Union job. You get paid trip rate, which is based off your hourly rate. You start off at $19 and it takes 5 years to reach top rate. Benefits are fully paid, or at least they were when Stroehman had their own private fleet, before Grocery Haulers took over, and I'm pretty you get paid severance pay as well. All depends on if the Stroehman contract transferred over to Grocery Haulers. I think they have cameras in the tractors as well, or some type of tracking device that informs management of what you're doing. Not 100% sure on that. But anyway, it's a really easy job. I know top rate drivers making over $300 a day there.

Best of luck on your road test.

Hey thanks for the reply sorry it's been a little busy around here for me to get back to you. I'm actually taking the drug test and physical today apparently they're no longer Union from what I understand but still work on the same bid system apparently they stated that the drivers no longer wanted the Union but the trucks still have the union stickers on them and I still get a pension so I don't know if they're just trying to keep it hush-hush. The pay I've been told is by mile and trip pay also I get paid to unload the carts of bread and drop and hooks . I'm slightly concerned concerned tho I came from an hourly position at my last job but according to them I should make easily over 300 a day. Any input you have I would greatly appreciate it thank you

Where did you take the road test? And was it management that told you about turning nonunion, or the drivers? Pension is from the union, so some of what you mentioned is a bit confusing. I know the new hirees complained about waiting 5 years to reach top rate. If you get a chance, talk to one of the drivers for the inside scoop.

As far as the pay, $300 a day, 5 days a week is $80k a year, but usually it's the top rate guys making that kind of money. Usually on trip pay, you almost always get the run done earlier than the time that they actually pay you for. So I would talk to one of the drivers if you get a chance, because a lot of what you mentioned is confusing.

It was the Brenigsville plant and it was the management that told me it was nonunion .Grocery Haulers web site said in the benefits page that there was a pension. the hiring was fast and kinda unorganized and they knew little about the run down of benefits they said most of my questions would be answered in orientation,

Bimbo bakeries is completely union, from the drivers, bakers, dock workers, mechanics, van delivery drivers, everything. Maybe what you heard was just rumors, because we all know that drivers like to complain. Although, there's rumors going around that their gonna make the bread truck van delivery drivers O/O, just like Flowers Foods/Tastykake.

I wouldn't listen to anything management says, believe me when I tell you this, coming from a former Hostess Brands driver. Like I mentioned, talk to one of the drivers for the inside scoop.

One of the benifits of trip rate is you don't have to clock in or clock out, and if you do a 12 hour run in 9, you still get paid for 12, and you get to go home early as well. One thing I'd like to mention is your probably gonna start off yard jockying, and they get paid hourly, so be prepared for that.
