Smooth as a baby's butt! lol
In some areas you'd think the had 3rd graders laying down the concrete.
Is California a decent place for a trucker to live and what cities?

I'm from up in the Redwoods, Humboldt County. I imagine you would love it, as it has the wooded atmosphere and the ocean (similar to Washington) mixed with sunny, warm, distinctly California vibes. I don't know how important living and driving in a beautiful, scenic place is - it is to me and when I say this I know that I'm biased, but Humboldt really is still the most beautiful place I've ever been. Nature is important to me, not in some BS political way but in a personal way, I need it to feel content. That's why I hate the Midwest and don't care to go east of the Rockies, I don't care if the politics or whatever is better over there.
I got my CDL at the community college there (College of the Redwoods) and have been over-the-road ever since. There are companies there that might hire an experienced driver. I never heard back from them when I was fresh out of school and they do seem more geared towards experienced guys. Some of the guys I went to school with have not found what they were looking for (a local, no experience or "in" needed job)
Not a lot of over-the-road drivers live in Humboldt at all since most of the companies don't go there. Con-Way, California Overland, and a couple of other companies pull the freight in on shorter trailers since the stretch of 101 through Richardson Grove State Park is length-restricted, so are 36, 299, 199...the only way you can get a 53' there is if you go up 5 to Oregon, then go west and come down all the way down 101 through Brookings (Oregon), Crescent City, Redwood National Park...it's about 100 miles so a lot of the bigger companies don't even bother. The drive is absolutely incredible though...cliffs, Redwoods, beaches you can park at, etc. I love all of the drives I've been in California.
I've never had any real problems driving anywhere in the state, I love it when I get loads back there. I think it's very easy to drive in, with plenty of parking and plenty to eat/do/etc by the parking spots that I've found. Obviously going through the Bay Area and parts of LA County can be difficult but not worse than the East Coast cities...?
And I'm sorry but you people who are so negative about it just because of the politics...if you're an owner-op then I can understand, but if you're a company driver, why not just relax and enjoy? -
That!^ That's what I'm looking for.

She's no longer against Henderson, maybe I can finally afford a nice house and not deal with snow.
I said as my truck is stuck in a truck stop parking lot in snow.
Thanks for the NV suggestion, that may end up happening. Trucking jobs I've found look awesome and I have a couple friends from WA who moved down there, works out really well.Chinatown Thanks this. -

Food hauling would be good, it's pretty much what I've been doing since I got my CDL.
