Initially reported as 30 vehicles, turned out to be 9 trucks and 4 cars. Still bad. Cause of the accident was reported as a truck driving too fast for conditions and jackknifed. Slow down, people. I drove 65 in this crappy weather Sunday morning. My biggest fear wasn't losing control of my own vehicle but that one of the left lane cowboys would lose it and wrap me up in his wreck.

Wow, the picture showed several trucks neraly totally destroyed. They must have been going to fast for the conditions out there.

Its been always amazing to me of other truck drivers who drive very fast on snow and ice.

What is the definition of "very fast on snow and ice"? Faster then you or is there some other definition? Also, can we establish a definition for "driving too slow to the point of being a hazard for prudent motorists"?

Meh. There is no way to define a standard, so the too fast and the too slow crowds can each claim they're right. I guess if you end your ride in the ditch then you were going too fast.

Personally, I let the truck tell me. If the rear end gets twitchy, I back it down a little. Single axles suck for traction on slick roads. Mostly I just maintain a safe following distance and try to stay clear of vehicles in packs. That way I don't have to worry about anyone but myself.

The Fudex crews decided that 15 vehicles weren't enough to join in...they were down near Cincinnati on I74 where they had 40 involved.
