I'm enjoying these posts. I am enrolled at Chatt State's driving school right now and will be going to Covenant. They're paying for my class. If all goes well I should be on the road with a trainer toward the beginning of March. I too am nervous about what kind of trainer I will get but time will tell. I plan on doing this for about 18 months and then transitioning back into real estate during the summers and driving during the winters.

hey buddy, when your back starts to hurt because of continuous long days of driving... That's bad sign. I drive solo and it started happening to me. that's your body's way of saying slow down and take at least an hour break. Walk around more, this is all it is.

The problem is I need to take more personal responsibility of my own health instead of blaming the job.

There are many oppurtunities to get out and exercise during a live unload or a layover. I was just too lazy and ignorant to realize that.

    One word: Hiking.

Pushing yourself to the top of a mountain is a good feeling, and it pushes you to seek taller mountains. That and you meet a lot of good people on the trails. I've met people from NASA while hiking..so many different people love it. There are hiking clubs too, like social clubs.

If your knees are bad, then biking. Those also have beginners clubs.

I did a lot of hiking before trucking. I power hiked 6 miles on Tuesday nights with a club, jogged and hiked on my own every other day for 3 miles. Ran 3 miles on Sunday nights. I was running 7 minute miles. My body mass jndex was at 7%.

Now I'm a trucker ...and just like you..I think back and I want to get back on those trails and push harder again..but..this job keeps you on your ###.

    Good luck.

At what point does a driver become a solo driver at Covenant?

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

    I don't believe they do. I think it's primarily a team thing.
