They make it pretty simple adds how much ever more to your fixed cost as little as $20 or as high as you want it to be, contract doesn't change. So I'll still be done with the lease in April of 2018 have 3 years experience, 2 years flat bed ,a year reefer. Then will have enough saved up know the business side of the industry well, I keep up with numbers fuel cost etc. Will get my maintenance fund, tire fund, excess mileage charge and performance bond back equal to about 10,000. And If I Average 50,000 Next Two Years and save half I should have about 50,000 saved by 2018 gives me enough overhead after buying a $25,000 truck that if I drive it two days and the engine needs an in frame I have the funds to do it. And if I end up making more I could end up with my on trailer and truck in my name then I'm leasing to a flatbed company.

Here's the kicker, I will have business experience I will have flatbed equipment, I will have flatbed experience, I will have driving experience. And did I mention that I'll be buying a pre emissions truck. Am aerodynamic truck. I'm thinking a t600 mid roof.

See here's the thing, I'm not looking to buy the truck. I don't want the hassle of a emissions truck until the government makes me buy on I live in nc so im pretty sure I can avoid California. And eventually I would like to get into over size over dimension without needing a lift/pusher

  5. @csw1818 like my brother @TripleSix has mentioned in many other posts like this.

    Take every load..... Don't complain
Tarp every time its required. Don't complain

Take pictures of every flatbed load. Even ones that are not yours.

Ask questions alot. If and I say if you make it through this year and still have your truck. You've made a start.

Good luck and search this site. I can tell you. In flatbed forum they have easily 300 years experience. That's shooting low.

If you don't think it's secure throw more chains and straps. And drive slower than you did before.

Take every timber tech and bull moose tubing load you can. Wonderful shippers and you'll feel right at home.

That's what I did, being thrown into flatbedding with little to no training. Remember the old hands always asking if I used every strap and chain in the yard on my load. Ha. Never lost anything I didn't want to lose though.

I heard a quote one time that went something like, those chains don't do any good securing the headache rack

    Al. Roper Thanks this.

A 175 of that 300 belongs to Passing Thru. He used to haul split rail fencing for a guy named Lincoln.
