Yup, 40 psi is normal on the ISX when the truck is cruising.

    Nefi Thanks this.

If you've still got lots of oil in the crank case that leaves only the oil pump unless your oil is so old that its become like jelly and the filter hasn't been changed for 4 years.

I’m going to hijack this thread. Please bare with me and forgive my rudeness.

I have an 06 Pete with the twin cam isx.
“My mechanic and I are stumped and trying last thing to see if this fixes the problem.” With 280 miles on fresh inframe.
Replaced reman head with new head and new cams with new rocker shafts and rockers.
New bypass valve, new pump, new pump pressure regulator”and shimmed for higher pressure “, new pick up tube and o-ring, new pistions and liners, new mail and rod bearings. Motor is clean as a whistle inside and oil with new oil and filter.

Start motor and oil pressure is 45-50 psi and as the motor/oil warms up the pressure comes down. At 600 rpm and 220 temp on oil the pressure hovers at about 8psi and 20-22 psi at 1400 rpm.

About to change oil cooler and t-stat to oil cooler.

I’m ready to give up. Cummins is no help on this either ?

Ideas from those that actually been here and done this. Please no keyboard mechanics.

This has been verified with mechanical oil pressure gauge on the main oil gally, it’s 8 psi there toooooo.

What filter are you running? I have had aftermarket ones cause issues. LF9070 seems to be the best.
Also had a tech change an oil cooler and leave a plug in the main oil galley.
What type of oil? Pressure good before the inframe?
