That would be caused by the truck not running properly. If the EGR system is pumping THAT much soot into the system, something is horribly, horribly wrong. The combustion isn't happening efficiently, which can be caused by anything from a boost leak, a bad calibration on the ECM, to a crapped up pressure sensor. It is not normal, at all. I do my oil changes with filters at 30k as well, and I've never had those pressure losses.
HELP!!! I'm stock in Ft. Stockton, TX

ISX engines of that vintage also like to dump their EGR coolers and the DPF element along with it.

BoxCarKidd Thanks this.

Forgot to mention, you can simply open up the crank case filter and look at it. If it has slimy gooey crap aside from just oil in it, you've got coolant intrusion into the engine.

I'm afraid to jinks it (keeping my fingers crossed) but looks like he found a loose part in the valve mechanism. One of the Valve Levelers came off. He's trying to put it back and re-adjust my valves right now....

Stupid question but on a car a blown head gasket your oil would be milky colored. Would it not be the same with a truck? Why not?
-
Not really stupid but is a 352 a Ford and not a Chevy? Oh Chewy, stupid me.
Gas engines normally have composite gaskets with fire rings around the cylinders. When a fire ring fails it continues on in the path of least resistance. Coolant and oil passages extrernal and internal leaks.
Diesel engines frequently have a steel shim, or plate , with the fire ring built into it. Then there is an individual gasket for each water and oil passage. It is possible to have a compression, coolant , or oil leak without one of the others, or they can come in combinations. The steel plate has the correct thickness between the block and head but every hole has it's own seal. Coolant can also leak between the liner and block showing up externally.
Many different models and many different possibilities. -
Good luck. If they can't fix it here surely someone in Odessa can. I am in fort Stockton for a few more days working. Never been here before this trip so I can't offer any local advice but if I can help in any way let me know.
AMDtrucking Thanks this.
