The one in Umatilla does when it's open. Shows axle though, not the grand total.

I do it at the Oregon and Washington scales all the time. Some fruit shippers in North Central Washington actually have us use the closed scales to scale out.

Every single Oregon scale shows the weight open and closed. They all have a red digital display.

I have used Oregon scales many times.

I almost always use the weight station scales if possible. Often when I am running local I will check the weight station scales against the shipper or CAT scales to see where I stand. They often do not read the same. Once I found the state scales to be some 2000lbs light. I made note of that and adjusted the load accordingly. Other drivers didn't check coming out of that shipper and just relied on the weight station scale and received tickets for their mistake. Not, all state scales are reliable.

Been there, done that at In I 94 scale house. One time I did my 10 at a closed scale house up in Ontario and saw several trucks using the scale.

I have scaled at weigh stations lots. Here, in Alberta, the government has a bunch of scales they use for temporary weigh stations, but otherwise they are available for use by the public. Many of them also have several parking spaces available too (which I have also made much use of). It's a heck of a good idea if you ask me.

    Highway Sailor Thanks this.
