It seems a good start.:) I would say the locking wheel is a must with dead axle. ... I do not see any drastic in the single wide wheels and save 250-400 pounds. Also the aluminum fifth wheel and drive shaft save 100-100lbs. And you are close to 2000lbs saving. Also with your big torque big hp engine I think you can get away with 10 speed direct drive tranny... Although it depends on your average cruising speed. 65 and over the dd is not recommended. I am not sure how much could you save with Paccar MX, but for me this would be the very last thing... Tho recently I read some promising reports about it, still I do not trust it yet. Probably I sooner would throw out the passenger seat. 100lbs:D

Ok, I'm back and is not all roses...glad to see deming807 back too...
First question for deming and/or everybody that have the ultra shift plus.

Deming807,u posted sometimes back in the summer 2015 that you've had the "GI" warning ((grease interval)) word on the shifter display, at that time my truck didn't had it but by last fall GI did came up, I didn't worry cause I knew the greasing was properly done, cause I did it,as my most oil changes up to that time.....Ok, went to home base dealer, ask them to get rid of it but they could not or had not idea how too!!!! (( most probable))
So, mister deming did u had any dealer look into it and actually fix it(((GI word and noise that it does upon starting ))) or not??? If yes,who did it??
Tnx cause my dealer has no idea how too.....

Another issue than I'll, Go with the positives
At the en of the year I asked the same dealer to change my coolant termostat cause cause I've seen water gauge temp siting at less than 12 o'clock ((@ 175F)) when driving even with mild air temp, they did, including asked them to hook the computer on to check gauge reading accuracy and it looked OK......after I insisted that cannot be right and tech seeing that there was an engine soft update he started to do the....BIG mistake....ESA,CECU and CLUSTER update that were up too.....I was right there telling him that I don't necessarily want those updated cause I heard not to good @ them......it was on already,so no coming back,...so it did download half way and the other half would not go thru, I had to leave the truck with them,,,,and by the time I got it back...updated..????the truck is no longer starting at the first turn of the key. 18 y driving trucks((Euro/USA )) never seen this......I have to turn the key right ((it would do nothing)) than go back left to off than go right again to start the engine.....All this is after the updates that show the KW logo upon turning the dash on before engine start......btwy....these updates would make the inside cab light to stay on, so I had to go into the dash settings using the large knob to reset the watch and turn off the lights(((look for dark cab option))

Sorry about long rambling but just letting all know what I have and as usual I'm not holding back...
Coolant still disappear ((had the slepper o ring updates)), oil do it too, I have the sludge forming under the oil cap when driving in cold temp.,when driving team((we do that)) or truck stop parked, sleeper is way noisier that the old 1999 Volvo that I had for 10 y...oh, truck is very heavy on the steer, but I have 13.2k axle and H rated tires + TK app, so I'm 13k there when heavy loaded and the trl very close for aero, 2 DOT guys stopped me on the scale &came out to Ceck my tires,,,Ok, enough now....good ones next

Don't bother with the good ones cause those are just things that are supposed to work well as in the 144k truck 2.5y ago....now 165k and going up...

Ceck the new possible e logs rules., u might wanna go with 1999 or older and leave happy while others Ceck alround the parking for empty spots..

Mhhh. I have the AG130 air suspension with 13,200lbs. I never go over 12,000lbs on the steer even if I am 80,000 and max out the 34,000 on the drive. My 5th wheel is forward all the way all the time.

    BigSky Thanks this.

Lol, how come?? [IMG] Holy smoke...
I did "GI" at SLC UT dealer, it took 1hr waiting.

Another friend of mine got GI sign much sooner than I. But I suspect thats because he idles A LOT. I do never idle. He get rid of GI sign at Milwaukee dealership.

Ive never seen either. I think its normal. As for oil temp sensor lately in warm weather it seats close to 230F. It seems to me it was close to 220F earlier (first year/150,000miles)

thats bad. I still watch for my level after repair.

I do always. 12,500 is normal for my truck.

    Tnx guys...
First, old friend Oram...yes I have the same ag130 air steer axle,13.2 k, 242 wb, 255 gal fuel, isx, but I think what's causing the extra weight is that at the time of building it ,I was asked to choose between smaller/ most used/regular dpf/def cans that are placed on right side behind the wheel....or...the longer cans that are located under the cab/frame longitudinally ,one on each side of the drive shaft....I went with this one,...so they may add some weight to the steers....but I don't bother cause up too 13k I'm safe ....California/Kentucky DOT's in the past and in dec15 Indiana DOT checked

Second, my new old friend Deming807, Tnx for the real dealers info ,I'll call them on Monday to see if they are willing to give the GI fix info to my people., including about the new cab/chassis updates that are messing my engine starting up...they might now some more about it.....
Btwy, I realized that my kW home dealer messed up my cab headlights, over torquing the screws on 2 lights and pulling out the base special nut that is fixed into the fiberglass., there was the water going in.,....I had to fix it myself.....So, as somebody that I respect and was banned from this ... said.....BUTCHERS..till u get out, for them to go for the next victim...

I'm still home since dec 18...to cold to work now....ping ponging everyday

Grrr. I wish it would be easier to post pictures. Anyway. I just scaled gross weight 77,320lbs. 11,800-33,060-32,460. Little more than half on fuel and 3/4 on DEF.

Meh, coolant still leaks somewhere. I think good idea is to change all clamps around.

in my current long frame (240) truck dpf located as you described along drive shaft. In my future preliminary truck configuration system DOES NOT allow to do the same. As dealer told me thats because all under-frame type exhaust comes ONLY with passenger-side under-step dpf.

thats truly sad. I covered my headlight with transparent protective film, so all the damages, scars and scratches are on film, not at headlight. I think if I ever remove the film the surface would be like new. Also I never messed inside the lamp assembly, except of adjusting beam height long time ago.

And one more notice regarding transmission.
Recently, when you get wet enough (snow, slush, rain) transmission shows "failure" sign. I think for months of torture external devises and electric connections on gearbox have lost their leak-proof. Thats a huge issue for Eaton-Fuller. They didnt make their homework.

    PS.
Thats why I choose white color. :)

Ok, called Eaton and GI remainder is an easy fix with the ranger software 4 ...can be done 2 ways.......reset the grease interval or shut it down completely, all others faults or trouble would be still active and working.... Btwy they worked on the president day
Same Monday called KW headquarters in Washington, there was nobody but one guy that asked me to call next day cause they don't work on federal holiday.....ill call tomorrow to ceck the mess that KW in Michigan did with latest update....

I'll make sure they hear one more time about their dealers incapacity

Ok, called kW headquarters ,very polite technical department , explained about GI and the update ,was promised that their regional service manager would call back within 24h to see what can be done about all this....lets see if I made friends or enemies now with this dealer forever,....

Deming my bad,I wanted to say my 2 cab marker light were over torqued...not headlights, but your idea of covering them may help against small stones, mine are being chipped as is the paint around them....I've seen trucks with those chromed paint protectors, I could not find them being made as after market option yet....

Ps:::: when transmission show failure, as u said, due to moisture I guess on one or more connectors is it still working...????, what needs to be done about it,????should be the bottom of the tranny's connections cause the tops ones IMO would be difficult to get wet due to the dpf/def cans being right there on its sides....now as usual I might be wrong again....
