Is there other trucking companies out of San Diego, CA that would be good to work for also? -
Like the rest of the F' Grounders! LOL -
Why are you so eager to get a contract with F" Ground? Real quickly, I worked for two contractors between 2001 and 2006. I left in 2006 because Fedex was cutting contractor wages which affected me. In 2001 this was a great place to work but in 2006 it was going downhill fast. You'd be better off posting this thread in Spanish or Russian, and I'm not kidding either, especially if you want to know about the CA area since in 2005 the Rialto hub needed an interpreter to speak with management. That's not made-up either, I worked out of the Phoenix hub at that time and heard all the unbelievable details of stupid drivers and incompetent management. You get what you pay for and that's why Ground continues to run (when there not layed-over in the ditch) because their wages are low. Both of the contractors I worked for treated me really well but I associate time with money and because of Fedex's scheduling turning my 12 hour day into 14 with no extra compensation I left. I'm sure things have changed at hubs and satellite terminals since I left but if I were you I'd look for something else.. Oh yeah, and normally if you don't know someone at that particulur hub or terminal you will never get in since it's kind of the "good ol boys system." That's not a bad thing though, most of the contractors that do really well here only do so because they pay crappy wages to their drivers; thus, we have caca-heads on the road pulling doubles. -
I do not know what trucking companies i can get with that would be best out of San Diego or Riverside, CA because my recent experience is shot. Fed ex passed rules that you only need 6 months experience in the last 3 years if you went to a certified school and i did i went to roadmaster back in 2010 but went to earn my degreee and that market is hard to get a job in again after i got let go from my last. Now im trying to use my class A CDL to start over again. Not sure if never backing will kill my career and im not too thrilled about doubles but figured i had the opportunity so i might as well give it a shot to support my 3 children who are little. Oldest is 7 yrs. Yes i need to get back to them but need to provide also.
Any thoughts on companies to try with on such little experience being recent? -
