Types of truckers passing me

    Give me permission to move over? I am not asking, I am telling you what is going to happen. No need to flash your lights at me, I know where my trailer is and where your truck is.

    You have been lucky to get 35 feet If you have driven through Montana you know how much traffic there is on I90. There can not be another vehicle for 1/2 a mile in either direction and I have people getting back over as soon as the trailer clears. I run 65-67 and I will have people pass me, get into my space and then match my speed. Then it is either an ### chewing on the radio or the ponies are unleashed, depending on my mood. That I know of the truck is not limited, I have not found it. I have run 80 in WY and UT.

    It seems like the most drivers must receive no defensive driving education nowadays, or don't learn to know better, to leave some 'space' before jumping back over into right lane when passing is complete. Many times a trucker will come back over after barely a 'car-length', which is 20-30 feet, way too little. I try to leave a truck-length or more before I get back over, the impatient car-drivers (ahem) can wait. Very few truckers do that nowadays, you know that we are the ones with a lot of experience and/or have safety in mind.

    Or how about when company drivers with a light load pass you before going down a hill, they hit their truck's governed speed and want to come back over. But you're grossed at 80,000. In that case they gotta wait, I'm not slowing down. Btw I drive slower when time allows to keep more $money in my pocket.

    For the longest time, I swore that Schneider drivers had a "dick button" that they'd press when I tried to pass them. Even if it took me two minutes to come up on them from a mile away, when I am trying to overtake them it seemed like they'd speed up to barely a mile an hour slower than me and would make the whole maneuver take an unnecessary couple of minutes. Thanks for confirming my theory, driver. Not that I think you're "one of those truckers," of course.

    Forget about company drivers for a second because I know I'm not the only one who's seen a fully capable Pete or KW pulling at 60 to save their fule. They even accelarate slow because they don't give a rat's ### if anyone's waiting. They aren't governed they know they're being a nuisance.

    Not sure if you meant me. I slow down for other guys trying to get around me when needed, but I'm usually grossed out at 80,000. I don't speed up either if someone is passing me, unless >>> I'm going down a hill. Why shouldn't I let it coast out and save my fuel and brakes, because some other guy wants to pass right then? I pay for my truck, trailer, 18 tires, brake pads, and it ain't cheap.

    A lot of drivers are courteous and professional, whether they are passing or being passed. Many are not, though, and it seemed like an epidemic with Schneider drivers. Like I said, I don't assume that you are one of those non-courteous drivers just because you work for them.

    I got ya, but No I don't work for them. Like I said I pay for everything I got, I'm an independent.

    This... I totally agree...

    I have tried both and I much prefer being the courteous driver and letting the other one pass me over joining in the race of the tortoise and turtle for what seems like forever running side by side with another 80,000 CMV.

    Kind of like holding the door for a lady, or anyone actually, ya, it might slow you down a bit ... But it's still the right thing to do.

    Sounds like a personal problem with a choice to drive for a company that has this crap.

    One day on a slick road you might start having second thoughts (if you survive).
