I just got hired with a local auto company out of Cocoa, Florida off of 520 and I-95. I'll be running Florida and home every night with weekends off with day pay (pretty decent), weekends off, 1099, and running a 7 car wedge . Car hauling seems to be little hard to get into compared to other areas of trucking and I'm thinking this will be a good starting point.
Question is are there any good companies that will hire for OTR with a couple years experience even if I don't have OTR experience? I can't seem to find anybody that trains in this industry.
This question is for the future so I can have a game plan after a couple years of intrastate experience in car hauling.
Just got into the biz

Car hauling is where the work is & money. A lot of responsibility. I'm looking to get into myself. Most of them want at least 2 years experience otr. I was talking to Proficient in Jacksonville. I would just talk to the recruiters of the companies you are interested in. I just saw Moore Car hauling was offering their drivers $1.35. Stay the course. I hope you achieve your goals.

Got a picture of a 7 car wedge?
-
No picture on hand but I can take one on Monday.
They currently have two 4 car and two 7 car wedges and are buying two more 7's this months. Like I said, it's a decent little starter company close to home. -
I think he was being sarcastic because a 7 car is not a wedge

I realized that last night. Sorry, still learning

No problem. Hopefully that's were all here, to learn and share what we've learned

I see guys using chains on the top cars plus two tire straps and all cars are strapped on the bottom rack. Is that typical? Or is it a preference?
-
I've personally never seen anyone use both. It's normally either chains or straps and most new car manufacturers don't allow chains anymore.

Good to know. And is it nessecary to crank to piss out of the mini winch? I watched a guy break the chain off the spindle yesterday but to me, I don't se that much force being needed. How hard do you recommend tightening the chains?
