    In dictionary

"Steering wheel holder- adjectives ####stick, ####hole, doorknob, clueless ####wit, robot, replaceable part, etc..."

Nothing between thier ears, clueless drivers who go down the road, are generally of lower skill or knowledge. Truck would die at 100k miles if not for company inspections.

I get just a bit emotional when idiots happen to nice trucks.

And after all why are you surprised,
You know nothing nor care to know anything,
And so the world is going to #### with you."-Lemmy Kilmister

A steering wheel holder is someone who doesn't read signs, hits low clarence bridges because their GPS told them to,doesn't read maps, doesn't pre trip ,doesn't plan their routes. In other words just drives and that's it.A professional driver does all of what I mentioned and then some.

The steeringwheelholder mentality is quite easy to see, isn't it? They think, "I will get in and drive and make a phone call when something breaks." So shortsighted.

You always see members respond to newer ones that express interest in being an owner op, telling them to learn the business in someone else's truck. What exactly are you supposed to learn?

Some people actually think that they can be a steeringwheelholder in a company truck because they are not paid to be mechanics, but somehow the stars will align and it will come together and they will be a successful owner operator.
Can any owner operator tell me what happens to the owner operator that takes his truck to the shop for the shop tech to diagnose problems?

THEY WILL EXPERIMENT ON YOUR BANK ACCOUNT.

    You WILL go broke.

"Well Six, I have no intention of ever owning a truck."

I always recommend people looking for a company to ask the HR person what the average driver makes and what the top driver makes. The top drivers make between 1.5 to 2X average. For doing the same job at the same company in the same POS fleet truck. What's the big difference between the average and the top? Not1 big difference, a million little differences. The very best steeringwheelholder is at best Average. Well, being average definitely a lofty goal, isn't it?

Tried using them once but they just undid the binder and took the load. They are impossible to use on straps.

A steering wheel holder aims for nothing and hits it every time. Along with other trucks and cars, power poles and ditches. If you are ok with being Average or below then by all means have at it. I have a friend that does really well and he does it at a company that many believe to be a bottom feeder or worse. Western Express. The reason he does so well is that he is above average in his work.
