After dealing with impatient rude and more or less stupid drivers from these companies, I lost all my respect for them or their situation.
I've had them scream at me, honk their horns, flip me off and threw garbage at my truck. It gets tiring. I try to hurry up so others can fuel and get out there but there are times where that's impossible to do because of other things out of my control, like Pilot in Gary used to (may still) have problems with taking comdata cards, they had for a few weeks run it through manually. Or the Indy J having an idiot who could not run the pumps - she would mess everything up and we would have to wait for the manager who didn't want to do their job.
The last time I had to fuel was in Indiana I was bobtailing one of my new trucks home. It was a 45 minute wait to get out of the fuel lane. I was stuck behind a truck with a sick driver who was in the bathroom throwing up and an impatient Knight driver who could not back up and wedge himself in such a way that he would have hit someone if he tried without anyone guiding him (he came into the fuel isles the wrong way and swung around too tight, the last time someone did this was a Pumpkin and he took out one of them cement posts protecting the fuel pump and screwed up the truck). This guy behind me expected me to push the truck in front of me so he could fuel (he actually said this to me), then kept blowing on his air horns getting everyone mad at him. He actually tied up two isles because how he crossed to put his truck behind mine. The other drivers refused to move out of his way so he could back up, he tried but they just blocked him in more. The driver in front of me came out, He looked like he threw up everything and was actually sick. The Knight driver came up to him and screamed at him to move NOW. The guy said he was sick and will move in a minute, then the idiot said it again which got this guy really angry, telling the knight driver if he wanted to walk away without anything broken, he better shut up. I just sat there watching all of it. The T/S manager came out when the horn was blowing and went back in to call the cops, they came out and told the Knight driver "manage your time better and stop thinking you're important because you lucked out ... you are walking away from some serious ### beating". He was told to leave, he was not allowed to get fuel there no matter what. Other drivers were telling the other cops there that if he would have started a fight with the sick driver, they would have all stepped in and fix the problem.White_Knuckle_Newbie Thanks this. -
I drive for a "mega." I'll be out 45 days this run. By choice. I'm not miserable or angry. People are people wherever you go. A driver is just a human with a skill set. You'll find all the traits and human qualities of the general population in our industry, good and bad.

I would say too much testosterone built up in your you know what. Not seeing a woman in a while can do that to a man.
And as far as the 7 times a day...I would put that as a safety issue. I mean, how are you suppose to drive if you're BLIND????????Schoob Thanks this. -
