I haven't pulled a box in quite a number of years, so this may no longer be entirely accurate but no one else has answered you so at least it's a starting point.

Open up your atlas near the front is a map of the entire lower 48. Use a highlighter and play connect the dots. from erie, pa down through pittsburgh, continue to Charleston, wv. Over to Lexington, ky. Nashville, Chattanooga, Birmingham, memphis, st louis, the quad cities wher 80 enters iowa, Milwaukee, Chicago, across 94 through southern michigan to Detroit. Down to toledo, ohio and back across 90 to erie. Make a commitment to stay inside this area and you should be able to consistently get top rates.

Obviously there are exceptions, charlotte nc is pretty good and at times Savannah, ga is excellent.

Trucking is a fluid ever changing game, subscribe to every industry news publication you can get your hands on. Pay special attention to truck to load ratios, manufacturing levels, consumer confidence and update your operating area accordingly.

Jeez, there's a lot of hate and negative comments here. How about cut him some slack?? Quit brow beating the man?!?
Its not for us to judge him. Just because someone else thinks this is bad, it may not make it bad for him. Good God! Give him half a chance!

See? This proves my point! I would be willing to run cheaper, if I could swing it, just to stay OFF I80,I81, I77, I64, any road with a toll, etc. That's some of the most crowded area, with some of the meanest people. Let the man breathe for a minute. This is why OP's start a thread and disappear. To much negativity!

I got to give the OP some credit. Be has no wife, kids,.etc. He might make it. And if he fails, he has not hurt no one, but learned a valuable lesson.....NOT TO HAUL OR TAKE CHEAP FREIGHT !!!!!!

Hey Joe. Dont listen to some of these guys saying "Confront your D.M." You are making the best decisions you can and learning fast. Theres gold in this board you just have to filter out super trucker stuff and use common sense. Ive always seen a situation from both sides so when i want something i dont bash people with it...I simply present it as a win win situation for all involved. Talk to your dm about your concerns for running in efficient ways and making this do-able for both of you while thanking him for the chance to be an owner op. This will let him see your maturity and will sell him on it ;)

Heres an update everybody. Ive been relaxing on a 34 reset, I finished my load yesterday afternoon. Got my first check. I dont really look at it as a true check for a couple reasons. 1 because my truck payment and insurance and fees havent started coming out yet. 2 it was only for a couple days work. It was a bit over 1100 I dont remember the exact number but thats pretty close. With out a truck payment coming out my pay for next check it should be well over 2k. I'll start posting actual statements once my truck payment starts coming out. Thanks y'all! Good or bad I appreciate the advice and support!

That is the same false school of thought as more miles equals more money. Get better paying freight and you will never be short on hours. I think I've been up against my 70 once in the last four years.
