Trucker attempting to evade paying tolls with license plate flipping trick nabbed by Port Authority police
A tricky trucker was fishing for trouble when he rigged his front license plate to flip up and disappear when going through the toll plaza on the George Washington Bridge, officials said.

Javier Marte, 41, is accused of running fishing line from the dashboard in his cab to a hinge on his front plate so he could pull it out of view and evade security cameras.

Officer George Kwiecinski, of the Port Authority Police Department, spotted Marte’s white 2006 Freightliner in a toll lane on the New Jersey side of the bridge at about 7:15 p.m. Wednesday.

As the truck rolled through the toll booth without a visible front plate the EZ Pass sign flashed that no payment had been made, PAPD officials said.

Marte had also bent the rear license plate up, so the number wasn’t visible, PAPD officials said.

Kwiecinski stopped Marte and arrested him. He was charged with tampering with public records and theft of services.

This isn't the first driver to do this. There was another guy but it was an electric type with a button on his Pete or kw. Not a redneck way with a string lol

Think I read the boy with the flip bumper just forgot to drop it after going off road. Either way I'm glad these guys are getting busted. I sure pay my fair share of tolls.

I'd think getting mud on there accidentally on purpose would be more rednecky.

', 41, is accused of running fishing line from the dashboard in his cab to a hinge on his front plate so he could pull it out of view and evade security cameras.'

Lol guess how they do that in Mexico.....

    Lost time: 1-2 days
    Lost pay: 1-2 days $4-500
Fine: ? Does anyone know? My guess at least $600
    2 days lost pay+fine+load being late= $1,750.00
It's worth the $95 toll IMO

You gotta figure they've gotten away with it MANY times before they got caught. Maybe even several times per day. It very well could have been worth it.
