Nobody is saying the other guy is "right". In fact, the more wrong the other guy is in doing what he's doing, the more reason you have to take action to separate yourself from the other guy's stupidity...drive defensively. There's an old saying about how two wrongs don't make a right...and how right or wrong, you're just as dead. When a wreck happens, it doesn't really matters who had the right of way...your equipment is still tore up, you still get those CSA points if an ambulance or wrecker is called out, and you still have freight that might be damaged...or YOU could be injured. Was proving that point WORTH all that?

But its your job to be a defensive driver even if you disagree with the driver passing you. Your ego doesn't write the paycheck(s), the company that pays you does. you need an attitude check bro
Agree. In the grand scheme of things, driving defensively is the way to go. Too many morons hold a cdl.

@scottied67 I am in no case in point perfect, without a doubt I've done stupid and also what I thought was marginal thinking and driving which turned out to be stupid... I'm 32 years old been driving since 2008... I started with Prime, had the worst training or learning experience you could imagine ( common trend with most megas ) and moved on.... For the most part I'm self taught... All your videos till this point that I have seen are pointless and a waist of time...

Like most on here agree your videos are either comical, with you being the comedian ( pee wee Herman like ) or straight ignorant and ridiculous...

It's great you do the speed limit, that's not the issue... The issue is your ignorance and inexperienced actions against other drivers while in transit across our beautiful country....

A good, competent, respectful, driver mentally notes the idiots you see and love to film daily but, accepts it as part of the job and moves along, better yet we do it daily and position our selfs mentally, physically, and adaptability...

You boasting about keep your speed at the speed limit and not backing down ( to some idiot ) everyone here for the most part agrees, is going to hit you like a ton of bricks...

What's going to happen is your ego is going to have you as ( Mr right I don't back down ) from another idiot and keep my speed limit ( as stated the 64mph ) you do that isn't a legal speed in the US, and get in a big wreck, while ya legally to a point you may be in the right, once a lawyer or someone else points out or finds your videos, you will be hung...

You claim because times are hard as an O/O, which I don't disagree with you about, that you cannot commit the cash to pay for a decent camera to fill night and day...

As much as I find your videos comical as a company local driver ( for the past 2 years ) and I would love to see proof of someone tearing your hood off, I'm going to jump out on a limp, I know times are certainly tough for all local,OTR, or whatever and offer you something...

If it's ok with @bullhaulerswife I would kindly accept you to PM me your address and I will donate to you $300 bucks to buy you a night/day camera so we can see some of the magic that goes down during the night...

I don't want you or the mods to get offended for you ( I completely understand ) times are tough and suck now for all, I commend @scottied67 for continuing to continue to be an O/O and push on in these though times with the market as it is...

@bullhaulerswife as you can see I'm sure most folks ( my self and other veterans of this site ) may criticize or get a kick out of @scottied67 videos, it has certainly been kept civilized and respectful and certainly good adult conversation...

I certainly have nothing to gain, nothing to endorse, I actually like @scottied67 and commend him for his videos and understand his situation as being an O/O hungry in this current market, he gives a unique perspective to to his videos, and I commend him for serving our great country...

If it's ok, let me know and I will be happy to fork over the dough...

Be safe out there Brothers and Sisters...

Lets keep it civil in here. Name calling and bickering does nothing but degenerate the discussion.

I think for the most part we sure have, @scottied67 does a great job of it... Would my offer to him be acceptable to you, nothing to obviously gain, as far as a kick back or money gained on my behalf... I like this site and want to make sure my offer isn't disobeying the terms...

Your offer is not breaking any rules. But I've seen plenty of baiting and name calling in here, and that's what prompted the warning.

Wow, you really don't see it.

That guy was in the wrong, no doubt about it. Whether he wasn't paying attention and the merge surprised him or some other reason doesn't matter. What he did was idiotic.

However, not letting yourself get put in that position at the merge point is about as basic as defensive driving gets. Add in the fact you had just passed the guy and you then dropped to below the speed limit makes it hard to fathom how you can't see that your actions played a big part in the situation.

None of us are perfect and we can always improve. All we're saying is to learn from situations so as to better avoid them in the future. If something bad happens being 'right' will be little consolation.

Appreciate the offer, really do but I will decline. I have enough points to get a new dashcam at the truckstop. I've had this one for about 4 years+ and I'm not ready to retire it. Eventually I will get one that displays my speed as well, have been not so veinly accused of being a liar in another video I posted about my speed. Anyway, enough of highjacking this thread, I'm out

Correct me if i'm wrong since i'm not in the game yet...
If you are a slow governed truck and you get behind another slow governed truck why is it such a big deal to slow down 2-3 mph or whatever for a short time? If you do the math (mine might be wrong) after lets say 8 hours of driving you won't lose many miles traveled if you were forced to slow down some for short periods of time. If you have a 65mph truck and had to drive 55mph a whole hour you would lose like 10 miles traveled in a 8 hour period. So i don't see slow governed trucks trying to pass other slow governed trucks a worthy cause. But i'm not in the game yet so I don't know.

  11. In real time, driving you encounter different traffic patterns, terrain and weather conditions. Not to mention shipper/receiver and office contact.

Now a governed vehicle is limited to say our 60 mph. Now this also limits climbing as well as downhill movement of your, governed truck. You will shift more, take longer to navigate a mountain. As well as take longer to traverse a state or route your attempting.

This all comes down to the dollar. If you travel from California to Texas - 1800 miles @ 60mph is. On paper 30hrs. Now your not going to average that speed due to starting stopping, ramps and fuel just to name a few. More in the 43mph average. That comes to 43 hrs to travel your 1800 miles. That is 13hrs difference. From
Avg speed of 60mph and 43 mph
Now being an ungoverned truck. I've had an avg of 54mph making it 33 hrs for my trip. 10 hrs is an entire sleep session for a solo driver. That shows I could be loaded or heading to a new load and down the road before the,g governed truck makes it to tx.

There is hundreds if not thousands of variables. Clipping a vehicle that travels distance is costly.
We don't Ricky race to our Starbucks in town doing 75mph for 10 min. So why would you make life harder for a person trying to make a living for them and there family.

This is more a knee jerk reaction to some accident or other petty incident.

Even as an owner operator I travel 65 because I can. But when I want to climb a hill, yes I'll pour on the coal do 70 to drive up it. Not drag my box up slowly.
It's all money. And it will effect thousands of people.

In short,. We run. Millions of miles not like a car couple hundred. We supply the nation. When our deliveries are slowing and not keeping up with demand. This will change fast. If not go into effect at all.
