I actually started LTL doing local deliveries in 40' Lowboys lumping my freight to the peddlers. Now driving 53's with lift gates and electric jacks to bigger peddlers. But since the nest is soon to be empty I'm thinking the exact opposite. No bills, open road, Hmmmmmm.

I don't have a nest, but I like having a home to come home to at the end of the day I guess, I'd like to be a line haul driver. I told the transit driver I work with this week, I said hey man, in a couple years or when ever when early set transit comes back I'm applying. I've had enough down town and route running been there done that been to the inner city been to the sites seen the show I'm ready to roll.

Actually I thought about going OTR as well be like one of those homeless OTR people that lives in there truck and just has like a hideout somewhere and just save money, but I have a pretty sweet gig at GFS and GFS might have some kind of road opportunity as well, so we must let it all unfold. Sometimes where your at has stuff that pops up too that's just as good if not better then anywhere else obviously depending of course.

I guess I'll have to start waving at all the Sodrels I see on 465. My first truck was a CH. I hated that truck until they replaced it. Then I missed it.

Alright, I'll look for an OD truck waving at me. I'm in truck T342.
Yea, chose CHs are rough rides. I hated them too. Little bit of nostalgia every time I see my old one though.

90% pay cut going from oilfield to LTL due to divorce and child custody issue.

That's rough. I was talking to a co-worker of mine/ex supervisor who took a step back now and is just a driver. He says to me "I find your not married no kids status interesting." I said "Well I know some divorced guys." He said "Yeah I'm divorced and remarried and when it falls apart it falls apart hard."

I officially start with Reddaway on Monday after leaving the oil field. I have always wanted to do linehaul so I used hauling water to just gain more Class A experience while staying local and getting a healthy pay check. Now the oil field has been so bad with no hours, no work, no money I was kinda forced to move on. Luckily I was able to get close to a year and a half of safe driving experience. I feel like starting my truck driving career was so hard and I was so broke for the first couple of years and each year has gotten better with more experience and new doors opening.

    Rubberduckin and speedyk Thank this.
