And one last thing and ole timer car hauler told me when I bumped into him; he asked why I ran a dually and not a big truck. And I said cuz it's cheaper and no cdl. And he just said, if it was really cheaper, don't you think companies like swift and Crst and all the Megan's would be running them? He's right, my dually got 8.5mpg loaded and my cascadia gets 9mpg. Just saying.., now onto this ford vs dodge argument

The Mega carrier argument is apples and oranges in this discussion. I have little need to haul 5-10 cars at a time to make my financial goal. You still need a CDL to haul 26K+ if you are using a dually or a Class 5+ vehicle. In my case, I have a CDL A XT and can drive what I like.
It only takes a few minutes on the Hotshot forum to see where the Class 3-4 trucks fit into the system and from what I have seen the last few months their position will grow as the economy gets more volatile.
If we are looking at a straight up car hauling endeavor then I probably agree with you on the need for a Class 5+. That would be a foolhardy endeavor when there is so much work available for someone with 2-3 trailers to make a great deal of money with lower overhead.

It actually worked the opposite of that when the world became more volatile in '08-'10. Dually wedge/flat bed set ups went from seeing them everywhere to hardly at all. Then the dumb ### tv show came along & they are everywhere again.

    John Dewart Thanks this.
