I guess we should be grateful they are at least putting apus on and not using Freightliner Park Smart

    Steel Tiger Thanks this.

There's a reason why carrier Comfort Pro is cheaper .... Because they're inferior in comparison to the Thermo King tpk.

Actually the new Carrier Comfortpro has a higher btu rating in both heat and cooling. Plus they have improved the generator to do more power output. All for 9700 installed

Yeah but again you're getting a 3 in 1 apu where if the apu fails you have nothing. At least with the thermo if the engine errors all you really lose is the cooling. Inverter and bunk heater works without the apu.

In addition to that, in no world does a glow strip put out more heat than an actual flame heater.
Everyone that I've spoken to that has a Comfort Pro tells me the same thing...temps get below freezing (32) and they have to idle the truck. If it's -15 outside, I'm still comfy. That Espar will run you out of the truck.

Mine will keep me nice and toasty at 32 degrees. Just have to close cab curtain; not just the windshield curtain. The unit will stuggle to keep sleeper and driving area warm or cool. It was not designed for that. But I do agree that a flame heater works much better.

If it's minus 15 outside, I'm going to idle anyway regardless of the brand of APU just so I don't risk fuel gel or the block freezing since JCT won't get the block heater on the Freightliners but will for the Pete's and KW's.

Never had any issues with my ComfortPro not putting out heat or cooling. Worked perfectly fine all the way into the -10 or so in Minnesota that I always had to deal with. But hey its the same with trucks. One guy don't like this brand and the other don't like that one but like's this one. Given the choice of the TK or the Carrier I had I would take the Carrier. But then again I had an inverter in my truck as well as the 120 volt outlet then so.... LoL

My Comfort pro puts out a crap amount of heat. I'm so glad spring is here. Now if only mother nature would realize it is spring we can finally start trading snowstorms for deadly tornadoes. Such a nice and peaceful life we drivers live.

I guess the APU is like the new trucks; some are good and work like they are suppose to and others are junk.

With that said and to be fair, my APU has had a lot of work done to it. All under warrenty. New belts (both), new water pump, new glow plugs, and few other minor small things.

Hope everyone has a safe and uneventful Easter or Ishtar depending on your beliefs.

I'm a sitting at the Osais Truck Stop on the AL/FL line on the 10. If passing by, stop and say hi. I'm parked up front.
