My biggest issue with elogs is when you get within an hour of home base and run out of time, sometimes drivers fault, sometimes just traffic or bad load planning. Coming home to Baltimore down 70 east once I pass Hagerstown there is a small rest area just past Frederick on 70, and the next two T/A truck stops are past where I parked at. I don't want to take my ten hours half hour from home.

i believe the phrase is...those who live in glass houses should not throw stones.

I digress...my employer uses elogs. I make a good living. I don't see the issue. I feel that for every 1 honest company with paper logs there are 10 lacking such.

I don't take a 10 an hour away from home if the clock runs out. I have a dozen strategic locations that, if I am up against the clock, I can drop the trailer securely and bobtail home off duty. Or in some cases, leave the entire truck and have the wife pick me up. Elog doesn't change a thing. Oh... and I take deduction for the miles when the wife picks me up for use of personal vehicle for business.

I think they leave because they are fodder for companies and were sold a bill of goods that was not what they found out life was like being a trucker.
